And now the Foxtel Cup has been given the flick, the fixtures should be even with only one team having the bye each week. Except the weekend of the state game.

BH, I reckon with Bradley and Gumbleton gone, Freo will rookie another tall besides Smith, pretty sure they have more than one pick....Smith is pretty well ready to go in terms of development, whilst the other pick will need those 2 years to develop physically and mentally to meet the demands for AFL.., though Cripps and Cary look pretty skinny!

I think that all clubs have to get together to make sure that the two weeks start has plenty of media publicity. Get some players from all clubs out to shopping centres and display them.
It may depend on where the night games are played Mike, Fremantle usually draws pretty good crowds on Friday nights. Maybe one on each night.
It will only be good for the WAFL, if the clubs get off their arses and make it work.

Perhaps we can get Connor Blakely, and potentially Ethan Hughes, to wear a Swans' jumper to promote our first game. And for a second suggestion the two aligned WAFL clubs don't start their season until their first team plays.

Peel have the bye first round if you read the fixtures Swan.
got a give you credit for trying , but as of Thursday Connor Blakely is no longer belonging to Swans. He is now a Fremantle football club player, and he will wear the Teal od Peel. Unless of that is that he is good enough to force his way into the Fremantle league team. What are his chances Swan?
I guess one day the penny will drop, especially for you Swannie supporters, but I wont hold my breath waiting.it takes a while to sink in up there.

A few salient points a/man: I wasn't aware that there was slavery in Australia in 2014. Secondly, why should I need to tell you about how good, bad or indifferent Connor Blakely is given you are the fount of all knowledge wit respect to the WAFL. Thirdly, you will never convince me, and I am sure the vast majority of true WAFL suppporters, that the host club alignment is singularly, unequivocally and unambiguously deleterious to the WAFL competition. Finally, please do not refrain from holding your breath on my account.

PS Perhaps you can go and watch some Peel games and see what sort of player Blakely is.

PPS. Could you please provide the source of the WAFL fixtures for 2015 and let me know where Swans are playing their first WAFL game and the date and time of the aforenamed fixture.

these days people do not even know when the WAFL season starts. they identify the overall footy season starting when the AFL starts. simple as that. The WAFL season should start the week after the AFL, not when its still bloody hot and with no publicity. I used to think starting before the AFL was good but its proven to be useless .

The suggestion here of a few early season double headers isn't a bad idea. But if its not publicised it wont mean much. I don't have much more faith left in the authorities who run the comp anymore. it gets more lamentable each year. Sorry.

Pretty sure the WAFC & club Presidents meet tomorrow to ratify the fixtures for the 2015 season, so we'll know either tomorrow night or the following day.
And tomorrow is the preseason draft & rookie draft, so we'll all know which club has lost players and WAFL clubs can start completing their playing lists.

Hopefully JB but last year the fixtures were released on Christmas Eve and I have a feeling it will be around then again this year. Hopefully it's not as it gives the supporters a chance to see who they are playing and when.

And some players may be waiting to see if they get drafted before committing to a WAFL team.

A lot of people talk about their respective clubs being inactive when it comes to recruiting but if you look at it over the last couple of years I'd say that roughly 65-70% of recruits don't start until December or even January.
