I can only imagine positive outcomes for the WAFL with a commercial broadcast. Just think about it, someone promoting the comp

Agreed, but is a commercial FTA going to take it up?

I know this is getting off topic, but someone has to comment. If we must have cuts to ABC programming, could we please start with whoever devised the embarrassing, excruciating New Year's Eve coverage on ABC TV. The live New Year’s Eve show from the ‘national broadcaster’ was a tedious, boring total failure. Their coverage of the 2013/14 NYE was also very, very poor. For example, the guy in the helicopter? What is that supposed to be? Lets hope and pray we don't witness another poor effort ever again. Someone needs raking over the coals. At least poor Julias' comment at the very end was spot on the mark. We all agreed her.

Yes Dazza. The latest news being silly 7 is broadcasting the Wafl for the 3 year term. Negotiations are still ongoing from what we're told.
Just hoping it's not a big mistake televising it on commercial television?

Last edit: by westaussieguy. Reason: Should have added the word WOEFUL in the post.

The latest I had read seemed to say that the WAFL was going to have to PAY channel 7 $1M, and they were looking for a sponsor to pay up?

If we are to believe what's published in the newspaper, I was on the understanding the commercial broadcast deal is almost complete. The commission is to contribute a 100 grand / year. The clubs will be asked to share some of the televising cost and pay up to 50 thou per season, but not sure how that will work. The one main sponsor and the 2 others have been issued contracts. Would imagine the more sponsors came on-board, the easier it will be. An announcement will probably be made at the end of the month?

Not sure how asking clubs to pay for their fans to stay home and watch tv is in their best interests?

It's a good point. 50 grand is a lot dough for most wall clubs. Is tv coverage going to attract an extra 50 grand worth of sponsors to a club?
