and I saw a stat that said that rupert and kerry paid the lnp a shit load of money,
that their editorials were pro abbott for the 12 months upto and including the election and that supported the lies about how much you and i would get with the scrapping of the carbon tax but then it is ruprt and kerry so it must be true

if you read the drum etc I think you would see that the greens are treated as a nonsense but then that is only my opinion

Deadright Mate, whats more than obvious to me and probably you is he has just been waiting for this to use as an excuse to get rid of a whole heap of stuff they have been wanting to do fo ages, for example local sport and all their OB Vans, its no secret they have been wanting to bail of WAFL NTFL VFL and TFL for a few years now, then theres the states based shows that have been hanging in by the skin of their teeth, the Friday night 7.30, obviously an ugly duck he wanted to kill.

Your assertion that the ABC is biased is one that lots of folk put forward, their bias is what to the left or to just reporting what is happening in the world without a stokes or murdoch spin. Of course they will look biased when compared to the commercial media but so would the Melbourne Truth. The commercial media is a sop to the Murdoch and Stokes editorial bias, oe the line of get out. Read one of Paul Murrays editorials any day any week, he still supports barnet and abbott despite the lies and other crap.

Also to those who a bleating about the balance between news and sport the ABC is fundamentally an information service and guess what news is information, sport was there to fill a void when the commercial channnels and stations could not or would not be party to it.

It is a sad day for all of us, the WAFL coverage was going anyway, will it be picked up by a commercial source not unless there is money to be made and there folks lies the fundmental issue.

Oh just so u know I am neither left nor right, I despise them all in our current political environment, just about being honest in the provision of news and events

Mate, did you watch Q and A last night? Noel Pearson deleivered a deadly blow to the lefty anti Murdoch paranoia brigade,

As for Paul Murray he works for the fairfax radio network , arent they left wing? and I have seen no end of his west editorials bagging the hell out of Barnett and the Libs here as well as the ALP.

Thats probably why everytime you turn on the ABC you here the Trifecta, Global Warming, Gay Marriage and Asylum Seekers being discussed.

I have never heard them expose the dodgy antics of The AWU, Clive Palmer, Obeid, Thompson et al that has all been left to Hedley Thomas in the OZ.

That says it all about your view of the world, to which you are entitled.

I think you will find that the four topics you raise cop just as much time on the ABC but it is without the rabid view.

As for climate change I suppose you accept that it is not an issue, gay marriage is an issue when it is in parliament but not any other time that I can see and the asylum seekers is an issue that more than 50% of the population saw as a huge issue during the last election so i suppose they're all wrong as well.

Balance is everything and without the ABC you would just have the Murdoch et al right wing media.

As it is said if you don't like it then don't watch or read it, I choose not to read the worst, read the Australian for the business stuff only, but check it before i accept it and c7/9 news or current affairs is just dribble so that gets a miss as well.

Bulldust it was Hedley Thonas that investigated the Palmer story and still is, the ABC was nowhere to be seen.

They might be issues, but that's a mile away from being bloody obsessed with one side of the story.

As I said , if you watched Q and A and heard. Noel Pearson speak on what the Murdoch press had covered particurarly supporting Aboriginal issues then it blows the right wing bias out the widow, you should of heard the dead silence in the hippie crowd, the narrative didn't go to script, a bit like your view of the world.

Yes, a very sad day indeed. Locally, at least five journalists from the ABC's Perth newsroom face redundancy. The ABC will close its historic Wagin regional radio outpost, ending a presence in the Wheatbelt town that goes back to 1936. Across the country and overseas, more than 400 ABC employees will lose their jobs, about 10 per cent of its workforce, with some told they were redundant immediately. About 300 jobs are likely to be gone by Christmas. Investigative programmes of Four Corners, the acclaimed Australian Story, rural show Land-line, Foreign Correspondent and the Fact Check are in the firing line. Some of the biggest savings will come from the ABC sports department. Coverage of women’s sports in Australia will be devastated by cuts in ABC funding, with basketball’s WNBL and soccer’s W-League to be abandoned next year. :(
