If the answer to that is NO then it is quite sad that a club like East Perth have gone 36 years without a premiership that they can lay claim to doing completely on their own.

Exactly take that out and east perth have actually been crap for those years.

Spot on BC, its the elegibility of the finals that makes it a white wash.

good luck btw, sorry mate but i reckon it will be a 10 goals smashing.

the more appropriate question Larry is where would WCE be without the WAFL? if my memory serves me every single player in the inaugural WCE team in 87 was ex WAFL and it continues to be a breeding ground for AFL players.

hey Bazza...yeah, you could be right but as long as we have a red hot crack I dont really mind because we all know its an uneven playing field so I guess the result is irrelevant in some respects. It's a bit like semi professionals at say Perth City soccer club playing the fully professional Perth Glory for the cup. you're on a hiding to nothing.

A romantic notion BC but you could put an AFL team on the moon if you like players are players. Subi won the lottery and the other clubs have scraped around for thirty years. Example EP propped up by wealthy supporters, Souths by you know who. East Freo and Claremont surviving on the quality of their zones. Perth on life support should be shot.

players are players Larry but you have to get them from somewhere. kneecapping the WAFL is counterproductive to the AFL full stop. it'll be interesting to see just how many local EP players get drafted in the coming years now that their pathway to the elite level has been severely reduced by the presence of WCE reserves.

I agree BC the WAFL is handy for the AFL but not essential, like a vampire sucking blood. EP juniors well I guess the colts is where most draftees come from anyway. Are our younger senior guys hampered possibly are they actually being looked at more often and prepared better maybe. Grey areas everywhere I don't have all the answers and I am 10 different people good luck to you mortals.

Dorrington started the screw on the WAFL- now Sautner carrying it through. As if this bloke does not already have enough bagage! How he can he say "put the eagles to one side and then bla bla bla" that is the very point. EP have 11 full time footballers. Recruits from other comps/states/clubs when they join WAFL are not full time. Massive advatage to EP and massive disadvantge to kids trying to get a league game in that district

All clubs over the last 25 years or so have had access to AFL listed players so yes there has been help for those clubs at times in finals.
Never before has a club in the WAFL had access to a full AFL list however.
And it is not just about finals, it is about the qualifying rounds as well, those are the rounds which get you to your ladder position and at times this year East Perth have had 14 plus AFL listed players in their side. Funny enough the days they had very few AFL listed players were the days they got beaten.

As I have said before the idea of the alignment I actually don't mind as long as it is done correctly.

1) East Perth and Peel Salary cap is only 1/3 of all other clubs.
2) Point system is removed from all other clubs. All 7 other clubs should be able to recruit from anywhere and the point system should not apply just as it doesn't at East perth and Peel.
3) East Perth and Peel can have their coaches paid for by the Eagles and Dockers but a figure the same as the highest paid other WAFL coaches must be allocated from their costs. In other words if Dawson is on $150k per year and East Perth would normally pay a coach 70k per year then they still have to pay the 70K and the Eagles pay the extra 80K.
4) 10 game finals qualification policy. That figure is reduced to 7 if Both the AFL club and WAFL club are still in finals.

This is simple stuff which I cannot believe the other clubs just let pass them by.

Some good things listed there but the points system has evened out the comp and has been a good thing. I wouldn't mind if you could only have 5 players recruited from interstate or other clubs on your list in any one year ???

Back to Dorro the most stupid thing he said is that all clubs have 10-12 recruited players and EP's just happen to all be eagles and the rest are local EP players like Johnsone,Smith and Wulff - Hello Hello - all local EP players Hello Hello we must have a bad line ??????????????
