Spring is in the air. The preliminaries are over. Five teams are out, four teams are left to fight for the flag.

Who is going to prevail in 3 weeks? Logic says that East Perth having finished on top by 2 games will be overwhelming favourites but I don't think it will be as simple as that.

East Perth are at the mercy of the Eagles and how many players they will allow them to play in the finals. Of course a lot have qualified but Adam Selwood was quoted as saying that they would not stack the team with AFL players and the core of the team would be the WAFL players. We will wait and see what happens with that.

Subiaco are a very solid team who had an important win today and would not fear East Perth next week because they have already had two victories over them at Leederville. I reckon they have a great chance of booking a spot in the GF next week.

The Sharks despite their loss today are in good nick and capable of challenging anybody on their day. They have a strong midfield and a good defence. I wonder though if they have got enough avenues to goal to beat the best.

Swans have no form leading into this finals series and will be rank outsiders in the first semi final next week. They have also been hit by untimely injuries and seem to have lost confidence in the last 5 or 6 weeks. They need to attack this final with the same "nothing to lose" mentality that they took into the first half of the season . They must be bold, take risks and try and take on the Sharks because that is exactly how they made it to September in the first place.

Lets see what happens.......

I think you're being a bit generous to EF Mike. Listening to today's broadcast, it was highlighted that their fitness was nowhere as good as Scabby's. It may well be that your young team can run us off our feet in the last quarter.

I didn't listen to the game 58shark, so this is my opinion, but I thought East Freo didn't stand to gain a lot from putting a huge effort into this match, they just had to make sure that their percentage didn't drop below Swans which they achieved. They may have just been holding back a bit in the last quarter and Subiaco needed the win more IMO?

We will find out next week at Shark Park

Went to the game today and to be totally honest both sides were very very unimpressive!!, poor skills on a perfect day marred by endless turnovers..ERT will not be phased about playing either team in the GF that's for sure..Engrave the cup now

Only once have these four contested a final four series - in 1961. Meaning only once have these four teams occupied the top four spots together at the end of a season - prior to this season that is.

All four of this years final four also competed in the finals in 1992 but it was a final five that year with SF being the fifth team.

I think it will be a Subiaco - East Fremantle Grand Final. Blue and Whites did enough to secure the home ground for the 1st semi. Swans would be down on confidence as they've lost 5 of their last 6 games. Not an ideal lead up to the finals. East Fremantle winning 3 and losing 3 of their last 6 games. The crystal ball saying that 70% chance of rain and a bit windy being the weather forecast for the first week of the finals, and a temperature of about 18°. With Subiaco losing 2 and winning 4 of their last 6, they would be quietly confident now the finals are here.

can't see EP not playing in the GF TBH.....fingers crossed it is an all G7 final..if it is folk should turn up in their droves to show the likes of the WCE, Freo and the WAFC that the WAFL is not dead and buried and dependent upon a WCE/Freo affliated side to put bums on seats!!

1961 Thanks WFF - gives me more cause for some optimism.

Hopefully, there will be a large contingent of loyal Swans' supporters watching our colts and league teams on the week end. Two wins out of two would be great.

We've had the First Semi and Second Semi played this afternoon. Have been told the attendance figures were low for both matches. Apparently only two and a half thousand attended East Fremantle Oval and the same number were at the second semi.
If that is not an indication of a sad, unhealthy Wafl comp, not sure what the bloody hell is!?
