If the recent reports are anything to go by, attracting big name top class coaches to WAFL appears to be getting a great deal harder.

Apparently Harvey and Micale have ruled themselves out of any WAFL jobs, Watters in an unknown.

Both SFFC and Perth are not getting the interest they would of hoped.

Could this be yet another negative impact the host club deal has had on the comp?

Umm $$$$$$$$$$$$$$. You can have who you like if your willing to pay the money.

you can get more for carrying a clipboard at East Perth than coaching a WAFL team.
all bar Harding and Malaxos have jobs outside footy..

The $ are one thing, but its more about who wants to coach in a faux comp for a club/team that are now just making up the numbers in a AFL machine.

I agree the alignment situation would have caused this, in saying that the Peel job would be a good one to get, would say that Webb would have that next year.

I am not sure you blame all of the ills especially in this issue on the ERT issue.

My opinion is that the clubs are looking for proven coaches in a market that has a lot of tried and failed coaches. Perth did try a newbie and got burnt.

I would be looking at the crop of retirees in past 2 or 3 years to be my next coach, someone who has done some of the apprenticeship stuff.

Also Perth and to a lesser extent Souths may have become the poisoned chalices and that takes a lot to undo!

Not sure who is around but the WP ressie coach maybe one to look at and I am sure there a few out there who would like a try!

Sould go with Waterman, proven coach taken a side to a league GF, would also have strong contacts. Surprised this wasnt done when DM was axed

$150,000 package is required for the higher profile guys. Unproven coaches will coach for peanuts. More hit and miss obviously but you could unearth a very good coach too.

Not sure this is a good line but it gets the blame for most things WAFL, as do the EP supporters for not standing up as we tried but failed and like the othe club presidents could have should have etc etc.
