So SANFL had ave audience of 500+k and WAFL had ave audience of 11+k.

Nothing to do with alignment, numbers been going down for 5 years.

For as long as those that run the WAFC continue to do so, what can any of us do.

I watched a bit of that game and the telecast was very professional and informative and it looked like a decent crowd as well.

The clubs need to take responsibility. Putting a pic on Facebook/Twitter three times a week seems the extent most teams go to to advertise and promote games. Simply no where near good enough

You're right there Barney. The club's need to be proactive in their approach.

True. The clubs haven't helped themselves.

This social media thing is over rated

South promote their games by a post on facebook, they get about 7 likes maybe 1 comment if your lucky, not exactly a huge hit.

Was that SANFL match shown on ch7 or still on the ABC. Intro and highlights looked great. Night footy, healthy crowd.

BUT they did the alignment better - Port Adelaide Magpies become the alignment team for Port Adelaide Power - everyone hates them already and the Adelaide Crows have their own side. Also makes it a 10 team comp and the bye is gone.

The WAFL needs to have a game EVERY Friday night at 7pm and make it the game to watch with your mates and have a few beers. If anyone is not sure what to do on a Friday night or how they might start their night / weekend they know 100% that a game of footy is on somewhere. We have enough grounds with lights.

People need structure - not bloody games at neutral grounds at friggen 12pm!!!

People want to watch a game as a curtain raiser before the league. Always!!! If you are having a night game then the ressies or colts or even an under 16 game must be played before!!

Start putting some vouchers in the budget. Half price admittance round or gold coin round. The extra people you get through will spend at the bar and vans anyway. Test it out and see if people will turn up if it is really cheap.

Have a bloody rivalry round - a real one. A promote that hugely for the week.

I think we need to maybe pick and choose weeks to heavily promote - get people through the gates and then if the product is good enough they will see a voucher in a newspaper etc or hear about the next "dollar day" and come along.

Surely in todays world of I.T. we can put on some ads on the ABC using footage from the 70's, 80's and 90's with some bloody modern music, quick voice over promoting each week's games?? Use the audio over the radio. They already have the footage, the commentators and the know how - just do it.

The SANFL make it look exciting and tap into the history of each club. Noticed a few blokes drinking cans near the boundary. I know at SF you can't take your glass outside or if you're a member you must have your drink undercover.

If every ground is known for having a beer garden / tent in the outer where you can buy a can for $4 don't tell me more blokes wouldn't find that appealing knowing that at ANY ground you go to you can have 3-4 beers and watch some footy.

Make it known and have a structure that is familiar.

Well said mate.

The SANFL makes a huge effort to get blokes into the grounds to have a beer in a can bar in the outer. Every ground over there has one.

Here we do the opposite.

Supposedly here, you're meant to bring your wife and kids and roll out a blanket on the grass and drink tea from a flask. :S

BTW if anyone gets a chance have a look at the SANFL website and then at the WAFL website.

I have been trying to get the numbers myself. Only seen how full the grounds have been in photos and in the coverage from last Thursday night.
