ok then Tiger lets average out which two teams attract the most fans then.....some folk reckon the WAFL will die if SD aren't around, some say EF and SF....some say the Perth sides....whatever really....the WAFL aint the WAFL and hasn't really been since WCE started up in 1987.....

...tell me this then which two clubs spring to mind first who have the most tradition in terms of rivalry in the WAFL?......Freo fans say EF v SF.....WP & EP fans will say other wise...CL and Subi fans will have their say as probably would Perth and SD fans...it's a question with a million answers......

but if it means EF and SF have to merge to survive than so be it.....no one can take the SF out of a SF fan.....or the EF out of a EF fan.....but I reckon most of these fans would rather see their club play in some form, than die out for ever......gonna be strange at first....but people adapt don't they.

Freez last I remember in regards to record GF crowd was the 1975 GF between the Garlic Munchers and Souths.Something over 52,000 from memory.Might have changed, but that is from memory.

Nup what about the Derby 1979?
It's not the size of the dog in the fight. It's the size of the fight in the dog.
Winning isn't everything. It's the ONLY THING !!!!!!

quoting crowd figures from the old days is not relevant today.
they are good for a bit of trivia, but justifying things today, no.

crowds at games now are about 1500-2500. not enough for any club to sprout bragging rights. which is why all clubs should have stayed firm together. not run agenda's that will now open up a Pandora's box of eventual extinction. I am sure the AFL clubs will demand a merger to eliminate the bye.

the other option now to eliminate the bye would be perhaps have a team based in the powerful South-West. Outside of that, I cant see any hope for 2 traditional clubs. Otherwise their fate could be in the hands of Nisbett & Co. A scary thought.

Bang on mate .... 23600 or so .... WP v EP had 22000 odd a few games earlier in 1979

the GF that year is still the league attendance record in WA 52 000 plus .... even beating current AFL contrived rubbish games

1979 Derby is the record. 35 years later, I can still remember the atmosphere. Rivals any AFL game I've been to. If EF/SF were merged what would it do to the comp? We've lost one of the icons of the league, we can't lose 2 more. As I said once before, if this did happen at least there'd be a REAL Fremantle presence in the WA footy world.

Well that merger would be another case of shooting oneself in both feet as far as the WAFC Hall of Wankers is concerned

And I'm sorry but that type of merge won't be known as Fremantle FC .... that is a registered business name of the AFL ....

Fark off anyway leave the 2 ports out of that scenario aint no win there

Hey I'm with you, leave us alone. Unfortunately it's no longer a matter of what the fans want...it's a matter of what's best for the AFL - people's opinions only matter if they stick with the plan.

Who were the other three clubs,There had to be five to get it passed. Why should I take your word for it in place of Bronte. What has he got to gain from telling a lie.
I am guessing you are all guessing.

Let me put this as succinctly, unequivocally and unambiguously as I can:

there was never any vote in favour of the host club alignment; if there had been it would have been 7-2 against. It was presented as a fait accompli by the to put it politely, and to understate it, by the gutless, lily-livered and impotent WAFC.
