Guys this thread is about the Craig Wulff incident NOT the alignment. I know some of you might think this is a pedantic point but I really think that people need to stick to the subject of the thread and if you want to start a new topic on the alignment go right ahead. It is frustrating to come on here wanting to read about what people thought about the Wulff bump and all you see is people slinging mud at each other over the alignment.

The only thing I would say as a neutral supporter who saw the game on TV( and the replay) is that if the football authorities make noises and are serious about protecting the players heads, they need to follow up with strong action and there cannot be one rule for Grand Final week and another for the rest of the season. If you can put your hand on your heart as an East Perth supporter and say that you would have been happy for Mark Hutchings to play in a Grand final if he had done what Wulff did, then fair enough. I just think the tribunal has set a precedent which will put them in a difficult situation when a similar scenario comes up next.

I think you are confusing the AFL stance on head high contact and the WAFL stance on head high contact. The WAFL tribunal has shown this year it couldn't care about head high contact. Giving a reprimand for rough conduct is very consistent with their
stance this year.

Yeah hadnt thought of that Barney, there have been a lot of reprimands this year for similar incidents. Surely though they would have to take their lead from the AFL in regards to player health and safety. otherwise they are not fulfilling their duty of care. If Wulff had done the same thing in an AFL match he may have been rubbed out for 1-2 weeks, but its somehow a lesser act because the footy is at a lower level??? Doesn't make sense to me'.

MO the technology that EP have along with the staff (non coaching but sports science) have been there for good while. Paul Goodes has been there for at least 4 years and is doing a PHD under Dawson at UWA, the other guys including the Physio's all came on board before the alignment when Dawson was named coach again they work or study under him at UWA.

As for the GPS stuff we have had that for sometime, Micales mate (the one souths pay heaps to) was using it when micale was resurrected.

I am not sure that we will get anything else other than most weagles players come to the grounds already strapped, ankles knees etc, Our Physio just does the tidying up.

We get the players nothing else (at this stage). If anything changes I will make sure I tell you!

I think he was charged with rough conduct not the more severe charge of head high contact, as someone else said, 11 reprimands and 3 suspensions so the odds were on his side. If the fella from Collie can affords to go to the supreme court imagine what Charlotte and the Penguin would have done for Craig.

As far as I am concerned he is one of our truly great players, not overly skilled, not overly fast, the list of downsides is a bit long but he has the things that I admire - loyalty, commitment to the club, commitment to his team mates and those around him and a great sense of pride playing in the WAFL and representing WA!

Personally I prefer stuff like this let go. I look at Franklin and Chapman missing finals as a bit of a joke.

Think there should still be a line that if the player that gets hit is not able to play on because of the hit then a suspension is warranted. If the player doesn't even need help from the trainer then there was not enough force in the hit to warrant a suspension.

After seeing the incident which was a deliberate head high I give up The WAFC has no credibility or ethics. Watch the clip below from about the 3.26.00 point.
Judgy gives a good summary of it and 2 commentators gave their comments apparently Lamb is involved with the tribunal so he didnt.

I went to the SF V EP game and Wulff cleaned up a SF player as well who had to be helped from the ground.. Nice having friends isnt it. :(

I suppose you have to laugh half the EP players playing in the GF wont be playing league at EP Eagles next year. :) Maybe a GF medallion will be a nice going away present thought?

Grump, nobody disputes that Wulff has been a good servant of WAFL footy and is a very courageous player and I have often admired him as an opposition supporter.

However I looked at the replay of the incident 4 times and it looked like head high contact to me. Only a matter of luck that it didn't hurt the Claremont player more badly, Ask yourself this question. If that had been Mark Hutchings or Mellington who had done that on sunday would you have been as supportive of them playing?

Seems to me that Wulff has been given a reprimand because of the semantic wording of a charge (rough conduct rather than head high contact), which smells to me like a bit of a snow job to make sure that he plays. Interpretation of this stuff is always a problem but people should expect consistent penalties if they transgress. You can bet your bottom dollar this decision will set a precedent for future incidents.

Just goes to show jealousy is a curse even when it comes to sucg inane stuff, Cardy I figured u for a reasonably sensible person, but oh well u are just another sad sack wp supporter.

Have a great day at the GF, if ya win good on ya and your team but if you lose try to be at least a little gracious about it!

Funny Chapman got hit with a ROUGH CONDUCT charge when he hit a bloke in the head Mike? He has been offered 1 week.. and it didnt look as bad as Wulffs?

Anyway its happened and cant be reverse so lets just let it go.
Bit like the Alignment.. The WAFC wanted it so dumped it on the WAFL with a couple of days notice..

ps sorry if offended by my cartoon.. Report it to the moderators or better still report it to the WAFC/WAFL.
