-Mandurah Dockers {squad of 40}(with all reserve Fremantle Dockers and Freo colours and song @ Rushton Park)
-Joondalup Eagles {new team with squad of 40}(with all reserve WC Eagles and WC colours and song @ Arena Joondalup)

WP and Subi @ Leederville
Perth and EP @ Lathlain
SF and EF @ Fremantle
SD @ Basso
Claremont @ Claremont

Two comps:

The WAFL State Cup and WA Premiership Cup

Traditional Eight in the WAFL State Cup
All in the WA Premiership Cup (BHP cup Whatever)

The traditional Eight play the other seven twice for a 14 round comp and top four.
The ten play the other nine twice for a 18 round comp (14 included form the WAFL Cup).

Big musts are the Mandurah Dockers and the Joondalup Eagles wearing their big brothers jumpers and bring their big brothers bells and whistles.
Victorians still laugh at West Aussies because of the way we bailed out the vfl and then allowed it to be called it the AFL!

Interesting model TFAF

A couple of initial points

1. Why would West Perth want to go back to Leederville after they have worked so hard to get a supporter base at Joondalup? I would think they would see that as a backwards step

2. the old problem - The Eagles and Dockers teams will have to top up more than half their team with amateur players ( or poach ressies players from other teams)

3. I could be wrong but isn't Shark Park getting a makeover? Don't think that East Fremantle will want to move if that is the case

As I said an interesting model. I think WA footy needs to start thinking creatively about the future of the competition and its important for us to stop hanging on to the hope that the WAFL in its current form will continue to be viable. We have seen a decline in crowds this year which will no doubt continue when the alignments start next year.

I would rather have some sort of a competition rather than it being reduced to a junior feeder to the AFL

Yep agree mate..Better something than nothing as much as I HATE to see it..

Now re Makeovers apparently we will be seeing some games at the Showgrounds with CLA doing the make over with their ground.. Cant wait.. Only been to one game at the showgrounds and that was in 2005 when WP met CLA there.. big crowd as well.

WP will never go back to Leederville now as to far into Joondalup to leave.
You cant live in the past and must move on

Good Post mate and says it all.

I was having a chat with a Claremont supporter at one of the Swans games there and he reckoned they might be at the show grounds for 2 years. Will be interesting to see what the atmosphere there will be like.

The shark park make over feel through ages ago, objections to the commercial development on marmion street lead to its demise.

Because Mandurah and Joondalup must have their names on the club. WP will never (rightly so) change their name. They could return to Leederville their spiritual home for the right price and right concessions. The most important concession of this concept is that they save the traditional eight. Remuneration for them will obviously be important as will retaining the vast majority of their zone.

2. the old problem - The Eagles and Dockers teams will have to top up more than half their team with amateur players ( or poach ressies players from other teams)
No they will have a zone like the traditional eight teams. But their zones would be a lot smaller and importantly their allowed training squad would be a lot smaller. I would think training squads of around 45 senior players as opposed to the traditional eight clubs having 55.
3. I could be wrong but isn't Shark Park getting a makeover? Don't think that East Fremantle will want to move if that is the case
As mentioned elsewhere that has been mothballed

Decline in crowds could be stopped if this done correctly
