regardless of the beating west perth took yesterday, i must give credit where it is due. a crowd of 6,000 is just brilliant and i must take my hat off to the falcons for being the only club of the nine in the competition to show one thread of initiative.

correct me if I am wrong but they apparently gave out 30,000 tickets to school children in the hope of a response. now that is what i call getting off your backside and giving it a real go. good on them for that.

Also we tend to compare ourselves to the SANFL and i found out an interesting thing about the sanfl yesterday that I was unaware of. They actually have up to 13 rounds of split rounds each year. That means 13 rounds where footy is played on a sunday afternoon. Their teams still have big cheer squads and that creates a great atmosphere at games. But i just thought the sunday thing with the sanfl was interesting. They always seem to be 10 paces ahead of WA in terms of footy thinking. that has been proven endlessly . I am sure yesterdays west perth crowd was helped by it being on a sunday, but the initiative itself was stand alone outstanding. well done WP. Take note all wafl clubs. use west perth as an example.

Jardine how many more people attended Claremont yesterday compared to the number who would have been at the game on Saturday?

your picking one game swan42. and being a claremont game at a venue that resembles a building site. plus the dockers were live on TV yesterday too.

If sunday games are pencilled in, it should be only when there are no eagles or dockers games on either in perth or on TV.

my question to you swan42 is, why do the South Australians do it with no element of public hysteria, yet here we have people who just are not rpepared to bend?

little wonder to me the wafl cant get a foot in anywhere else or with any other demographic.

The players don't like Sunday games; the vast majority of WAFL supporters don't like the Sunday games. The Eagles game started about 5.40 pm - hardly in opposition to a 2.05 pm start.

well done West Perth for a good :) crowd and the effort involved to get them there but they are not the only club trying to improve attendances. I know at East Freo we are always trying different themes and promotions to get people to the game without any help from the WAFL. Some work some dont and only two weeks ago we had a student day and we have had father son camping on the oval after the games. Have to keep at it as WAFL clubs get NO help from anyone.
