Given the number of boys from the NW who can obviously play and need to be developed should we be looking to farm some of the boys out to other clubs for their development. There ar only so many places for boys to play 16's, 18's and colts.
It maybe that obviously swans and claremont get the pick but other boys get a a chance somewhere else as part of a loan process (similar to European football). It might help clubs who have a limited number of available colts.
Increases the opportunities and the depth of talent to drawn on.
Another idea maybe to run a 4 game inclusion of the team into the colts programme, no bye for the teams.
Nah, Swans and Claremont do a good job with the areas. It has to be remembered that many of the other WAFL clubs weren't that interested in overseeing those regions when they first come up for zoning.
Truth is, as talented as those lads obviously are in the carnival, not all will want to pursue a footy career in the city. The challenge will not be finding a WAFL club for these kids but indeed getting enough of these kids to relocate to Perth to make it worthwhile for CL and SD.
This week's colts initiative whereby Swan Districts and Claremont will play a virtual Pilbara v Kimberley game, at I imagine great cost, shows that both those clubs are committed to the areas. Maybe a few more of the boys will get the colts bug and decide to relocate to Perth in future.
Maybe in 20 years mate.
For the Swans muppet at what point did I suggest taking everything away from Swans and as for Ellenbrook you have absolutely no idea, neither Swans nor EP have contributed nearly enough to the area but by the same token neither has the local club, get off something that is a non event.
LH I did not say nor suggest that the 2 clubs were not doing a great job, what I was suggesting was an openning of the opportunities though a greater level of involvement by all clubs.
Once again a coke bottle glasses approach to development is apparent, don't touch my area or players, never mind the fact that for 2 or 3 that bassendean play and the 5 or 6 Claremont play there is still another 20 who given the chance may develop into good footballers but also have a spin off in the communities. Clontarf does it's bit as does the NW development centre (with government funding, oh that would be tax payer funding something we ALL pay)..
Oh well just another thought but obvioulsy not one that is useful.
