There's been a fixture change and possibly for two weeks running - and funnily enough it's the AFL sides involved again in each of them
Leederville Oval has been deemed unfit for play for this week at least and most likely next weekend as well with rain forecast once more

Pffft, soft. 

Obviously the WAFC want Leederville oval in the best possible shape for the GF.  

So we have the irony of East Fremantle playing at the WACA, which is in East Perth and East Perth playing at East Fremantle oval.! Crazy stuff

Leederville Oval is an utter disgrace and whoever is responsible for it needs a kick up the ring. City of Vincent I guess.

Last weeks game showed what a pig sty it was, both EP and Subi bear responsibility for its decline they should of insisted the surface was properly maintained via their lease agreements, you cna forget it as a GF venue.

Watched a bit of the South vs Swans game on the box a couple of weeks back and the surface at Fremantle didn't look all that great either. Nothing like Leederville of course though. Should be no such problem at East Fremantle it has an excellent surface . Maybe the TOEF should put a bid in for the GF.

Surely any ground that had co tenants training most days each week, 3 grades playing matches nearly every week, not fortnightly, would struggle to hold up over winter, especially with the rainfall Perth has had of late. 

 

Actually June was pretty dry Freez - rainfall about half of what could typically be expected. July just about average at this stage. So really it hasn't been that wet!

Looked very wet at the games I have seen via live stream of late mate.......not just at the Leederville games either......I guess at the latter end of the season and little ongoing maintenance by the TOV over the years, this was inevitable.....loved mikeh's comment as well......EF travel into town to play a home game which is closer for Perth to play.....and EP travel to Freo to play a home game which is probably closer for Peel to get too.....makes perfect sense.

Funnily enough Freeze some people were saying not long back on here that WAFL clubs should share grounds eg like SU & EP at Leederville Oval to share costs etc and just have 4 or 5 ovals we play on.
I did say at the time that it would be ludicrous as I know at Bassendean Oval we have our SD Mens League, Reserves, Colts & Futures training and playing on it over most of the year plus we have the equivalent with our SD Womens Teams as well (League, Reserves, Rogers Cup, Futures) as well which is 8 or more teams plus is used by the local school as their school oval at times as well, junior finals etc it is quite a heavy workload. 
If you were to throw in another WAFL club with their womens team as well at Basso it just would not be able to cope with that amount of constant traffic unless you had resurfacing regularly and or proper drainage like the WACA which as we know would be quite expensive and not sure the clubs nor the council would be keen on paying for that expense and upkeep!
