Watched a bit of the South vs Swans game on the box a couple of weeks back and the surface at Fremantle didn't look all that great either. Nothing like Leederville of course though. Should be no such problem at East Fremantle it has an excellent surface . Maybe the TOEF should put a bid in for the GF.

East Fremanttle has an excellent surface LMAO. Maybe after the make over.

Fremantle has by far the best surface of all the suburban grounds outside of Lathlain, all laid to AFL standard.

Fremantle looked an absolute billard table GF day 2020.

Does not look good in 2022 though. East Fremantle and Bassendean are both far superior surfaces than the Fremantle quagmire.

Clearly no idea what you are on about EF and Bassendean are not superior surfaces, and when has Freo been a quagmire? Was there Saturday and it was spot on.

I think they’d lose at least 5k plus attendance because of the distance.  We humans are a funny race….I used to drive over 600k from Karratha to Exmouth to go fishing for 2 or 3 days, but I wouldn’t drive to Joondalup for a footy match.  Go figure.

Tend to agree, if its a Fremantle based team, plenty wont bother going up, on top of that if its a derby gf it will be a fizzer, then again if its WP in it might do well, pretty dull surrounds up there, probably holds 15K though.

Seems clear now that the WAFC preferred option is Leederville. A couple of stories in the West online about it, dont expect to see any more games on for Subi or EP and training will be moved as well. Both clubs officials have been lobbying the WAFC and the state government to get a full resurfacing done which runs to about a Mill. Thats chicken feed for the state government thats running a $5+++ bill surplus. No big deal for Subi as we are out of the finals, EP still have a faint chance but would need to beat a fully loaded Peelmantle today. That gives a heap of time to get the surface up to scratch, hopefully we can get a stretch of fine weather to help that along. Only similarity to Optus is that it's a truly neutral venue.
Yeah The football center of excellence that isnt even up to scratch to hold a home and away game.

what a joke.

Did you actually attempt to walk out onto the oval Bazza or just view the greenery from the comfort of the members stands.

It looks nice from a far but far from nice when you are out there.
Well done to those players who managed to keep their feet for the entire game, not that there were many of them.

Compared to what? Lake Leederville and the WACA central pitch? or the sand traps at Basso.
