Have I missed a couple of articles or has JT been dropped from The West. I can’t think of any articles from him on the WAFL recently. It may be because of the push of both AFLW and WAFLW. 
Maybe another attempt by the AFL to shut down talk about the second tier. 

I hate it how when you look up WAFL that the first 3 or 4 articles are about women. 

Same here as soon as WAFL is  mentioned I get sucked in then it's about the women.

Townsend was dumped by The Worst a few months ago TFAF. They are all dropping away, I know he annoys a few but I think Kim Hagdorn leaves a big hole in sports news and talk back on radio in Perth.

No one has missed any articles by John Townsend. Several months ago he " departed" the daily rag.
I realise some others dislike 
his reporting. I have found his Wafl reporting to be a god send for the comp. Whereas many other so called journalists and media people simply ignore the subject. The daily paper going to be poorer from now on. 

I have been told why he is no longer at The Harvey Norman, I mean The West, but not sure how much or what I can say. It certainly wasnt his choice to leave.

Exactly sf4. Certainly was not his choice to leave there. I guess what has been done is done and finished.

I'm sorry to hear that. JT was certainly pro WAFL and was one of the few journos who actually took an interest in it. I saw him at many Subi games so I only hope The West continues to support the competition in some way, shape or form and he in particular, isn't lost to the WAFL.

I think that real footy reporting will dissipate somewhat over time and will be replaced by the shit called ‘women’s footy.  JT’s demise is just the start.  Hardly anyone will watch it, but they’ll continue to pour money into a dead horse trying to give it a heartbeat.  Such is this thing called equalising the sexes.  Could get embarrassing….I’d hate to think some bird has a bigger slug than me 

Did he get the sack or was it a redundancy package? Or was it a restructure and he wasn't going to be reporting on the WAFL and Cricket anymore?

Not the same extent...but Townsend is now writing for 91.3 SportFM, seems to mostly be writing on WAFL and cricket again. I think he features on SportFM through the week aswell but I'm not sure what days. Pretty sure he broke the stories around WAFL clubs training on at AFL clubs over the summer before thewest virtually copied and pasted. 

I heard Townsend make mention on 91.3 the other morning it is good to see the Wests sports reporters were listening in to 91.3 as they seem to just copy everything said or reported on 91.3 for their report in the paper days after!
