First thought your best thought should’ve gone to Perth with Mossy, to good a player to be playing country footy at this stage of his career

Including three goals in the last quarter, Freez, with his fifth for the day putting EP back in front deep into time-on.
From memory, it was Jono Marsh who kicked the winner for EF a minute later.
On his day, Matt Young is a very good footballer, particularly around goals.
I didn't think he had a great 2021 season, but hopefully Young isn't lost to EP.

young's form last year was very patchy.should have been dropped to the ressies and then was injured and came back to the league team.maybe a reflection on how little depth we had..his last quarter against the sharks could be described as a tom lamb moment.

There is a rule that has something to do with a player having to be at the club for 5 years, played a number of games and some other limiting stuff. I tried to find it but couldn't!

It was explained to me last year and I was not fully cognisant of it then so I am sorry but the rule allowed EP to just refuse the request. The lack of something obviously was something that detracted from the move. You work it out. I am only relaying something I was told so it maybe all heresay but we get enough of that on here already.

As for others assessment of his performance perhaps it is not just the players issue but then I am always negative according to others.

Well an unfortunate fact of life are the off field issues that afflict certain players, which is something out of the coach's control, and another out is Magro, who has been offered more money to play in Tasmania, but i still believe we will be playing finals as our ins will prove to be a lot better than our outs.

Grump, I'm not aware of any rule like the one you refer to. Things like length of service and games played would surely only affect the amount of the transfer fee/points. Otherwise, it's all down to contract status and whether a club should feel a moral imperative to allow contracted players to play for rival clubs on demand....

RL, EP may play finals, but if you do, it will be 5th. 1-4 is reserved for S, SF, C and WP. You, SD and EF will slug it out for 5th.

Ted, I was unaware of the rule as well but it was as I said the reason told to me. I suppose they are looking at a clubs investment which I think is some ways fair enough. Off field are not the issue!!

As for finals I will as pleased as anyone to make the finals but I will wait for the last home and away game for that eventuality!

South will struggle Teddy, they have a few outs, and it pains me to say who i think is the team to beat, but if they lose their chin challenged centre half forward, who with the Sharks Hugh Dixon has been invited to train with the Eagles as a possible Jack Darling replacements, they too will come back to the pack.

RL, I think having a key forward is essential to make finals. SF have lost a few players, but Shaw will kick around 50. How many teams have missed finals with a 50 goal key forward? Miller chips in with a few, as does Schloithe, and Ah Chee will be very effective.Like you, I will watch WP with interest, given the invite for Keitel to train with the Eagles. I have WP slated to finish 2nd this year, in light of adding Hutchings and Meadows to an already strong midflied. But if they lose Keitel, the best forward in the business, they will come back to the pack a bit. By that I mean 4th at worst.

Otherwise, RL, i just have an overall sense of disillusion with the WAFL. It's always the same: we speculate that Sub's era may be over. WP were tipped to finish last, or close to last, across the previous 2-3 seasons. Last year, many people thought that Perth had recruited well enough to finish as high as 3rd - even the West pundits had us in the 4. EF have a bunch of AFL players, EP apparently have buckets of money. Yet all predictions of a challenge to the power teams fail to materialise. I fear that the WAFL has an entrenched pattern of power teams versus occasional contenders. Yes, I have a jaundiced view as a long suffering Perth fan, but that's how I see it.

I'm not as pessimistic Ted,we had a couple of respectable 4 goal losses to our next door neighbours as well as defeating 2 top 4 teams, the Sharks spanked Subi and West Perth at the back end of the year, and Swans were very unlucky to lose the first semi at Joondalup, but i do concede finding good key forwards are critical to finals success, although i'm banking on our onballers hitting the scoreboard a bit more this season.

6 weeks or so out from the season and there's really very little traffic across all threads. Anyone missing StT yet?
