I probably agree with others we need to go back to a top 4. Top 5 gives too much advantage to the top team and disadvantages the 4th placed team.

EF is going to get very ;little WAFL time out of their WCE listed boys, unless JK doesn't play away games to keep his body fresh throughout the year....but I can't see JK buying into that.....Hopefully WCE go local on draft day, though that will probably benefit Subi as Johnson and Erasmus look likely to go early with one of WCE first picks.....hopefully with a later pick the likes of a Browne, Williams, Warner, McVee or Cripps from EF might end up at WCE. One would think the likes of EF, EP and Perth would be the only clubs eligible to the WCE E.S boys..... with only a few will play regular WAFL.....pretty sure the top 5  from 2021 wouldn't want any of those recruits clogging up their 2022 match day squads.....SD will get plenty of time out of Trew and maybe Edwards.....Cl as mentioned with a few of their boys, ditto to WP and Subi.....and SF won't see TK at all...

It was only a couple of years ago that the whole WCE squad was on EP list, and they didn't dominate the comp.

Yes Foley is not from WP
No we didn't, but when we had the interstate alignment in 2000 and 2001 it apparently turned us into a juggernaut,so you never know.

In what way DD?

4th has to play an extra game to make it to the 1st semi and the top team gets two rest weeks if they make it through to the GF. Top side plays a side in the 2nd semi who has just slugged their guts out in week one.

A top 4 these days gives no benefit to the team that finishes top apart from a home ground advantage, same for the 3rd placed team. This season top spot was decided by a 4 point margin Subi's way over Peel, so Souths could have had that advantage which would have been a huge thing for them to get those weeks off with the injuries they had. Back in the day when all finals were at Subi oval, no team had an advantage for finishing top or 3rd, except for the very rare occasions Subi made finals. The top 5 also benefits the 2nd placed team with a second chance and a home ground semi final. Must be some benefit for a team that finishes the home and away season on top

saturdays west had a article why nisbett says eagles wafl team can't work for now.he says requests for greater allownances in recruiting and fixturing had not resulted in enough change.unfortunately there was little or no give in the current condititions

.i think it is up to the commission and clubs to resolve this situation.i don't like the idea of any west coast players playing with my team let alone with others.imagine this scenerio with a final between claremont who have several  west coast players on their list whilst south fremantle have only kelly. if claremont have 4 of their afl listed players available and souths none.is this really fair.what's the point flip flopping when the eagles will eventually go back to a stand alone team in the near future..

I can see Perth supporters in the no, no, no camp bitching like hell if we miraculously made finals then coming up against East Perth with 5, 6, 10 Eagles interstate draftees or even a Claremont or West Perth or Subi with a few of their own Eagle listed talent.

I can also see them turning up jumping on the bandwagon if we make finals with 5 or 6 Eagles listed players wearing a red and black jumper.

It’s totally fair. The other option is the Eagles have their own reserves side and I don’t think any of us liked that. If not selected for the Eagles then players play for their original side, like they used to. So you think it’s unfair because Claremont may have Waterman and Langdon playing for us, and possibly Petrevski Seton? If the Eagles draft some East Perth talent then you might be happier about it.
