It does not matter the number -- 1,5, or 10 -- whatever the number, none of the players would respect the club's jumper

Ark, I think in a model where AFL players are spread around all WAFL clubs you do get some players who embrace their WAFL club. That is one of many reasons why it is a better model than an alignment. At Perth, for example, Sam Butler gave his all when he played for us, and spoke highly of his time at the club.

I am also very concerned about the proposal to cut transfer fees. Surely that just makes it easier for the more financial and successful clubs to poach from lesser teams? How does that promote equalisation? There should be a loading whereby teams higher on the ladder (averaged over 5 seasons) pay higher transfer fees to clubs who finish lower. Same with points.

TN-- Butler played well; but he has been one in over 30 years; fear not though mate, Subi has had just one decent import brought in by the AFL clubs in the same era. Crowley.

Didn’t David Mundy play in a premiership for Subiaco? If they are the only two decent ones you got…….Wow!!!

Correct DD, Mundy was terrific for us when he played back in 2003/4, Josh Wooden also played well for us when he was available. Given we were a top or top 2 team around that time we like SF & CL were near last cab off the rank for the reverse draft of ES WCE recruits, But Crowley, Mundy and Wooden were good value.

Not quiet sure what West Coast are up to here. They don't want there stand alone team. They don't want another alignment,or do they really.Maby they need some help from little brother Freo.Who have successfully teamed up with Peel Thunder..For a number of years.
Does Mr Nisbet phone the Wafc and say,(Sort this out for us)..Or do they send players to tier 3 football,,SANFL Alignment or VFL alignment
.There preferred option would be an alignment with there co-tennents at Lathlain...But STT will fight that with others..

As mentioned elsewhere, an alignment will not happen what will happen is that the WAFC at the WCE behest will direct that WCE can send players to clubs and there will be an expectation that those players will play probably league but certainly reserves. WCE will probably pay the club an amount of money for the service with league games attracting X and reserves x.

The option to refuse will probably see a penalty in the $'s.

Yes lots of probably's thst could be possibles.

Grump, I very much doubt that the WAFC would have the power to penalise a club for not accepting Eagles players. I would have no real problem if the Eagles want to play their players in the reserves, but I can't see them being happy with that. Their complaint about their stand alone reserves was that their future stars were being dragged down by hacks. That same complaint would be made about them playing alongside reserves players. I say again: the WAFL clubs hold the cards. If no-one backs down and agrees to hosting excess Eagles players, they have nowhere to go. I just hope that my club doesn't back down.

If they draft Greg Clark for example, do they really think he would get more from playing god knows where with another 4 blokes that he probably wouldn't even know that well or stay put playing for both the jumper and an afl game?? Nisbett should just admit they got it wrong and go back to the old method, when they also won a couple of flags. Distribute eastern states draftees if any but leave the others where they are

I would have thought that they would have popped in to see east Perth again.  They’ve been very friendly in the past, as we all know.
