They should all be made to play reserves until the end of the season.

There are some winners out of the mid season draft..The player that gets drafted. The Afl club that gets a player for nothing.Theres a few clubs chasing back up ruckman atm.Gold Coast,St Kilda,Port Adelaide, Hawthorne,Adelaide Crows.REALLY surprised Corey Gault has been overlooked in this scenario.
The fact that the Wafl or SANFL club loses a player without compensation. Is apsolute garbage. The Afl should cough up $50,000 per player.

A few players have thrown their hats in the ring late in the piece. You have to wonder whether some players are wildly optimistic, or taking the piss. For example, at Perth, Oscar Bird has nominated. He has never played a league game and his numbers in the reserves are modest at best. The expectation is that no-one from WA will get picked up.

Cory Gault probably was at his peak as a player in 2018-19. He is still a consistent contributor at WAFL level but his AFL opportunity seems to have passed him by. I have watched him struggle a bit in the ruck this year against guys he would have towelled up a few seasons ago. I would like to see him used more as an alternative forward to Palmer and blood Matthew Germs into the ruck position.

Think Gault hears you as well Mikeh, not nominated for the June draft....interesting the names of who have, a fair few from EF who haven't got a hope in hell of being drafted....

The original reason given for the mid season draft was for AFL clubs to find replacements for long term injured players. That has been thrown out the window it seems. The AFL clubs should be made to nominate the injured player supported by medical evidence then they can only draft a like for like player ie ruck for ruck, mid for mid etc. It seems they are just interested in bulking up their lists for no other reason. The fact they can do this at no cost is un-fucking believable.
