more like Peter Thorne (EP/C/Melbourne FC) , Darryl Sutton (SD/North Melbourne + Collingwood) John Wise (SF/Collingwood) Chris Smith (P /1980 Richmond premiership player) , Stephen Mount (SF/P/1980 Richmond premiership player) Brett Yorgey (P/Richmond) , Phil Bradmore (WP/Footscray) and more came over in the very early 1980's

Yes mate from 1981 onwards quite a few more Vics tried their luck in the WAFL with mixed success, that list I put up earlier was just the 1980 players as that was the season AR mentioned.
Interestingly we have had some very good players from NT, TAS, QLD, NSW, ACT since that time but not too many from SA have had successful WAFL careers since the days of Bunton Jnr & Hawke in the late 50s early 60s.
Freeze would no doubt throw up Mark Norsworthy :silly: and possibly Greg Hodson.
A few players from Richmond's 1980 vfl Premiership team came to gods own country WA after- the skipper Monteath headed back home to SF then finished at CL, Rob Wiley came home to PE & was in the WCE inaugural squad, Stephen Mount tried his hand at SF & PE, Daryl Freame had a few years at PE whilst Malthouse had to come here to make a name for himself as a coach.

Southy you would be pleased to know the likes of Mount (TAS), Sutton (TAS), Bradmore (NSW) were not actually VICS mate haha, although they did come West via the vfl.
SF have done alright from Vic over the years going back to Hassa Mann's days- Mann, Clark, Shaw, Jackson, Reeves, Delmenico, Geary, Vernon, Byrne, Cook, Suban, Hockey were all good value.

Funnily enough BH, Norsworthy kicked 25-30 goals from memory that season, not bad in the grand scheme of things TBH....Peter Hofner was a SA import, came to EF with a decent rep....think he played 2-3 games then went to EP.

Think in the Melrose tsf to NM, EF got the Feltham brothers in the 70s....both didn't last long.....Ken Newlands from Geelong also came to EF, but injured himself and didn't suit up in the end.....

Norsworthy actually kicked 33 goals in 1981 Freeze, gee these days that would be enough to win the Bernie Naylor Medal

Ferguson, Tscherpig and Cassidy in the 70s.
Rankin and Waterson in the mid 80s after a miserable start to the 80s
Bowden, Egan, Madigan, Bromage and Mellody in the 90s
Young, Watson and McGough 2010 + years.

And the worst - Nifty Neville Fields

Didnt Big Ron bring those boys along with Peter Keays over from Fitzroy when he became Captain/Coach in 82 Freeze?
Jeff Cassidy was a real good goalsneak in the early 80s for Old Easts.
Paul Abbott ex Hawthorn Premiership player, Damien Condon and Haydn Kilmartin were a couple of handy other Vics Judgey brought over in the 90s.

Geez 33 ain't that bad for a number 1 rover in any WAFL era BH....Think I got Egan mixed up with Abbot in 98 BH...Cassidy actually came over in 77 as a 19 year old to EF, lasted a year, missed out on the 77 GF(think played in the 77 prelim) and came back in the early 80s....definitely a favourite of mine back then....yep Big Ron brought a couple of Fitzroy boys with him....David Rankin and Peter Keays....Keays was a tough HBF...only played a year and went home

For Subi Jason Heatley was a class FF kicked a few tons for Subi in the 90's before heading to the Saints, Mapleston from NSW/ACT was a very good CHF last decade, Haynes a great mid (Vic) and Rix (Vic) a very good ruckman, Schultz was mentioned earlier and Vin Cattogio both Vics and both classy rovers.

Maybe the most influential Vic to come to Subi was Ross Smith who moulded a very good group put together by Bunts into a premiership team, the other Vic in that era was Sierakowski, big intimidating CHF ruckman. The influence of two other vics at Subi in the naughties, one a player one a coach were Rich Malone and Peter German, they changed the whole playing culture at Subi from perenial finalists/bridesmaids into multiple Flag winners.
