Word is WP are going to go under with the shut-down. Fremantle Dockers are looking to purchase the license and go with a stand alone WAFL side.

What this means......

Peel gone and Subiaco will be asked to move north as they will be given more zones up that way.

So Subi with a bigger zone is a good thing for the comp?? Wasn't so long ago many on here bemoaned Subi's dominance which was apparntly, in big part, to do with the fabulous zone they already have??

Why would Subi move, they have a massive infrastructure investment at Leederville. It would cost the WAFC or Freo too much money to convince Subi to move. The only way a current team would be enticed to move is if they were facing collapse ....... Joondy Sharks, Joondy Swans, any team that moves up there will get major dollars and inherit a huge zone which would secure their player supply for decades.

Subiacos infrastructure is a crappy old building with a tiny bar. They wont need convincing they will jump at new facilties.

Joondy Sharks - bitter sweet, loads of dough, but a loss of identity. East Freo at Joondalup? I wouldn’t think this would happen SS, but then we don’t know how the footy world is going to look in 12 months.

Apart from Peel who have zero identity no club is going to merge or move. Look how it crippled WP and pushed EP to the brink. EF moving north???? There'd be riots in the streets.

Subiaco should move and be the Northern Lions, East Perth sent out Noranda way, the WAFL needs to have clubs in community areas that reflect their player base to survive

I can say that it won't be Joondalup - East Fremantle will relocate to Mandurah if this scenario prevails
Tried a merger / take-over a few years back if you remember

Joondy Lions has a nice ring to it. They would probably continue their dominance. Who would inherit the rich beach suburbs Scarborough to Duncraig? Or does it go further north?

Claremont moves further north to Leedy instead of being surrounded by a block of flats. Demons get the Goldfields?
