Will the Club Presidents show enough courage and solidarity to force the issue and get it back to the 9 team competition with no alignments or will a club break rank and take West Coast onboard?

With $60m in the bank WCE can afford its own ressies team in the WAFL. What could change is that WP might not survive bringing it back to 9 teams again.

one thing almost positive is that there will be no stand alone AFL side(s) this season - and that is IF there is a season and I'd say this could roll into 2021 if this isn't stringently controlled very soon looking at some of the retard behaviours being seen most particularly in the ES
Sadly I don't believe there will be sport of any kind for the rest of this year 2020 and nor should there be , there is so much more important work

some of the rumours are talking about afl clubs slashing their lists to thirty.would be hard to have a stand alone team especially with several injuries.the theory is afl cloubs would get players from other leagues on short term contracts.this seems like a good/bad idea.could mean more players coming back to the wafl and maybe both afl clubs players split between all wafl teams like the old days.no one knows what the afl season will be but if the afl and teams want to survive we may see severe measures for afl clubs to survive.

The WAFC/WA Govt owns the AFL licence and as such the WCE - without the WAFC & State Govt in 1989 there wouln't be a WCE and that is fact
WCE only have that money because of this so guess what is going to happen very shortly?
The WAFC won't go bust because the WCE has 60 million - that coin is taxpayers coin or more succinctly WAFC coin

I don't follow these things as closely as I used to , but I did see that the AFL was considering raiding the West Coast bank account.

I don't know how realistic this possibility is, but I would be extremely angry if this could possibly come to pass, because

A - As much as I dislike the Eagles I do realise that their profitability is important to the WAFL.

B - The whole point of the WCE joining the VFL was to protect the WAFL.

C - As a tax payer I would be extremely pissed off seeing the AFL be able to do this.

That all said, I would be open to the WAFC loaning the money and if the AFL default we could own them...

There will be no AFL stand alone side or alignments and there will be a return to billeted allotments of any surplus AFL players to WAFL football
The reason for this will be drastic cuts to Vicco league list sizes beacuse they've wasted nearly every single cent gained from Telecast deals in their relentless pursuit of self domination
State leagues will bear huge losses as a result because virtually no resources have been tucked away in case of emergency due to bloated staffing , player contracts , salaries of the Vicco HQ , the Docklands money burner & stupid expansions into regions not at all interested in Australian Rules football
This is an expose of just how bad the Vics are at managing football and it will come at the cost of several state league clubs around the country
NEAFL comp is now doomed

Spot on Southy...how the hell the AFL has got themselves into a position where they need to go cap in hand to the banks to borrow $500m is just beyond me with all the revenue they've received over the years. Some really dumb decisions to put expansion teams into the Gold Coast and to a lesser extent GWS, millions on the women's comp, overseas exhibition games, fat salaries, selling the GF to the state of Victoria for the next 40 years for a pittance...you name and the AFL is guilty of it. Now state league teams are up against it as a result.

Assuming there will be no further AFL games this year, and also assuming the AFL will only receive a tiny portion of the TV rights for the season, that is probably a $400m hit to their income.

I read somewhere that the AFL were looking at a contingency plan of restarting the season in September with the view of playing the Grand Final around Christmas!
If that happens maybe the WAFL can do the same?
