So the flow chart i have just received from my club that came through from the WAAFL states the below:
Club of origin - The first WAAFL club the player played at prior to playing at another senior football club is worth 1 point.

I believe that only counts if you play a higher grade of football. For example if you play WAAFL first, then progress to WAFL before returning to your original WAAFL club then you’re a club of origin player and a 1 point player.

If you start your career at a WAAFL club, but subsequently play in the country (for example) before returning to your WAAFL club you can’t be considered as a player of origin.

Know of at least 2 clubs who have been caught out on this, but it does seem extremely odd to me.

Does the points rules apply to reserves also or just the top side.

The Club of Origin definition was the same for both of the proposed Player Points models that were voted on by the clubs.

One club tried to raise the issue of the points calculation definitions, including this scenario of players forfeiting their Club of Origin status but they weren’t allowed to speak on the issue by the chair.

I believe a number of clubs raised concerns about the definitions with WAAFL board following the Special General Meeting but no change was made to the Club of Origin definition.

Get the majority of clubs together again to make a pretty simple change to the current non-sensical COO definition and the Board would adopt it as I doubt they’d want another SGM called

Cannot understand why "what players have played at your club since three year entry" has to do with there points value since?

Meaning, guidlines are applied as of 2016 (is player joining club from 2016 onwards a 5,4,3,2 or 1 point plare?)..
...what they have achieved/developed since is irrelevant)...

If a player comes out of retirement and played last year but hadn’t played for 5 years previously he is a 3 point player under this system. What a joke!

This points system is starting to cause frustrations for our club and especially the club of origin definition. We have a player that was a junior from our club, played 150+ games with us, went country for a handful of games in 2017 (unpaid) due to work location and is now a 3 point player.

Surely some common sense prevails by the League and board in partucular who look to have their knickers twisted because their preffered easy line in the sand option was voted out. Go back three years, wherever the player in question has played the most footy is their home club. If a player played juniors at a club, then surely thats club of origin status aswell.

We will lose players from the game if this isnt sorted out which nobody wants. One thing is for sure though, there is going to be some very strong reserves sides in 2019.
