Champ Kinds spot on
What a "Shirt front" to the CEO, a vote of no confidence when you dont have a vote of no confidence!

This is a huge win for the governance and integrity of grass roots football in our state.

Well done to the clubs that 'drove' the motion to challenge the original poor decision.

The points allocation under Option B will not be 30 points - I would expect (but have no evidence) it will be in the 40 -42 range - perhaps a little more.

When this process started 4 years ago, we all knew that as Clubs, we all had to do more support our local Junior Clubs as they are where your Colts come from. They will also be where many of your future League, Reserves, etc players come from.

SA and Vic have points systems across the whole state - and have for several years. Their world hasn't ended. A Grade is still their pinnacle.

Recruiting won't stop - Clubs just need to recruit smarter - and look after their local Junior Clubs!!!

I think you’ll find a lot of clubs look after their junior clubs. The issue now days is there’s a severe drop off once junior clubs get to Y11s and Y12s. This has resulted in multiple teams merging at these levels and expanded competitions. Restricting clubs to only a few junior clubs could result in issues down the track, especially where that junior club is unable to field Y11 and Y12 sides for consecutive years.

The proposal to align Clubs to certain specific Junior Clubs is dead.

My concern is that Clubs will raid Junior Clubs out of their geographical area, disregarding those closer to them - probably because those Junior Clubs don't have Year 11/12 teams.

This won't help those Junior Clubs - time, effort and probably money will be needed to support your local juniors. Senior Clubs will reap the benefits of doing so over time.

Has anyone heard any whispers on what the point allocation is going to be under option B

I imagine it will be a little more generous from the 40/42 mentioned by 'Birdman' as i hear the TWO CLUBS that spoke against Option B which was no surprise (and resulted in a bit of disbelief and head shaking) have influence.

I would really hope Scarborough and CBC have no influence Stinker but you just never know. It was very interesting listening on the night and hearing everyones point of view. I liked the guy from Kingsely saying he wanted the 35 points..... I tend to agree with them but I still have no idea how points will be allocated now as criteria will no doubt change.

I heard 36 but this was before vote was carried out and Option A was off the table. The league knew what was coming so I would hope the League will get something through this week and would be disappointed if we didn't see any communication at least. Clubs planning for 2019 will be affected one way or the other so fingers crossed feedback is given soon

40-44 points seems very high in my opinion, every player in your league side could be a "non-club player" (with 44 point cap)

A generous league set up would be
15x club players (15 points)
3x non-club players (6 points)
3x wafl res/colts (9 points)
1x WAFL / AFL player (4-5 points)
total - 34-35 points

I would be very surprised and disappointed is the cap was more than 35 points.

Would love to hear peoples thoughts on that?

The “non-club” players are worth 3 each if they have been playing league elsewhere within the last 3 years - I think that total is too low for the first season - maybe start higher and then drop a couple of points a year until they get to that total.

50% of clubs currently sit above 35 points and the WAAFL stated that they expect 5-7 players to transfer into a club and play in the League side each year.

Think it will be set around 40 points which will impact around 25% of clubs.

It’s never been the intent of the Points System to stop players entering the WAAFL competition from other Leagues, it’s design should just ensure that the talent is spread more evenly across the competition by preventing a relatively small number of clubs from continually recruiting a large number of high quality players.
