That's a little extreme. The Grand Finalists deserve to go up, so the natural balance is that the bottom two in the grade above would be the clubs to make way for them.

It's not like the lower levels of English professional soccer where there are leagues of 24 and the bottom four go down.

Premier: 20 teams, 3 up and 3 own
Championship: 24 teams, 3 up and 3 down
League 1: 24 teams, 3 up and 4 down
League 2: 24 teams, 4 up and 2 relegated into non-league ranks

Any updates on Yanchep trying to get a second side and enter C4 in 2017 or Swan View possibly moving to the Hills competition?

Rumours swirling around the southern suburbs that Maddington want to stay in C1 and will be apply for that. A disgrace if you ask me

It would have to be an extremely compelling case for the premiers to stay down. I am sure that it wouldn't be allowed to happen though.

It doesn't have to be compelling, it just has to be the first time.

By-law 4.1

b) The club League teams playing in the Grand Final in each grade (other than the highest grade) shall be promoted to the grade above their current grade the following year. However, either club playing in the Grand Final may request of the General Manager not to be promoted in the following year provided this option has not been exercised by the club in the previous year. In this event, the highest placed team scheduled for relegation will remain in the higher grade.

Although the WAAFL can do whatever it likes.

By-law 4.4 The General Manager may relegate or promote a team for fixturing and grade composition.

So are Ocean Ridge nominating for E1 next season for their Thirds, as per WAAFL vacant coaching positions?

If that is the case vicko, then couldn't every team under maddington apply to not go up? If so, would that force maddo up, or the 2nd last b grade team stays? It's piss weak of maddo if that is case, but it is only rumours atm.

It's written in the by-law.

"In this event, the highest placed team scheduled for relegation will remain in the higher grade."

So whoever finished 9th in B grade would stay up if Maddo remained in C.

Ocean Ridge won't be asking to go up to E1, and as per usual we'll play in the grade the WAAFL put us, although just scraping in to 5th we'd like to remain in E2, or have a big influx of players and get a 4th team in D2.

These are my opinions only, the club and committee have not endorsed these comments.

When is the deadline for rejecting promotion? I'm sure Melville would like to know in a reasonable timeframe if any teams are trying to dodge promotion as it would definitely affect their plans for 2017.
