Tigerpoint, good write-up, I think Canning are a much improved team from the last time we met, certainly the game was a lot closer, and as you said just lost to Thornlie last week. Unfortunately to many losses in the earlier rounds may be your downfall. the only issue I note, is that you seemed upset with one umpire for 2 50m penalty's and 2 yellow cards all in 1 incident midway through the second quarter, but then go on to personally abuse him and the club. The good thing that I note is that during finals we do use WAAFL umpires and the umpiring becomes more neutral. As you note in a later post "The canning umpire probably felt that canning deserved a little bit of fairness given the blatant cheating from the Ballajura umpire" which to me points out that you thought he was over the top with his bias decision making.
There is always 2 opinions to umpire decisions whether it is AFL or junior modified, but at the end of the day we need them to help grow our great game.

Best of luck for the rest of the season, and hope you get to see some wins on your return.

That comment was purely a tongue in cheek reference to the complaining from the Ballajura rat pack. From what I saw on Saturday I wouldn't be surprised if action is taken. You can't let that go along unaddressed. That event was following a half of football where the Ballajura umpire paid almost no frees to canning and at least 5 goals resulted from his whistle. Don't gloss over it by trying to be kind. This was a blight on amatuer football and these kinds of people (your umpire) who have no pride or conscience is what stops people becoming umpires because they insight violence and abuse.

The canning umpire hardly was noticed am from games I've seen this year has never caused an issue. The Ballajura has one thing on his mind. A win for them.

Whole thing is a joke if you are reliant on club umpires and then accusations start flying. Amateur footy is quite Amateur at times

Like our problems with junior players coming through, the umpire shortage is just or more serious. Majority of the umpires umpiring in amateur footy are over 50 and clearly they aren't growing on trees, hence a lot of umpires C2 and below are affiliated with the club they umpire and cop the your a cheat tag. A lot of these umpires are simply helping out their club, so they wouldn't umpire a neutral game so we would lose them to our competition and be in a worse situation if we made all umpires neutral. Yes a lot of umpires aren't the best and some do cheat that is certain, but if we get rid of this percentage who do we replace them with. Obviously it is up to the clubs to train and educate these umpires so their club isn't tarred with cheating claims, but the main issue is we need more umpires urgently to keep these bad ones honest and yes in a perfect world all umpires would be neutral. That is the million dollar question how do we get new umpires ?

Spot on The Rug, In the end 99% of them are just trying there best. You do get some flogs (HW umpire is just a disgrace) but overall most are ok. most of the time its the same guys on here complaining so go figure.
