Round 11 saw a few close games around the grounds but the home teams taking the chocolates. With positions 4th, 5th and 6th having a loss it puts Ballajura who are 3rd at the minute 2 games clear. Canning Vale are sitting 1.5 games clear of High Wycombe and Warnbro when you consider they haven't had their scheduled win against Swan View yet. With 6-7 games left this year it will be interesting to see if Thornlie will remain undefeated even with the last couple of weeks coming to close quarters with their opponents.

Coolbinia Reserve
Coolbinia West Perth 12. 8 - 80
def.
Lynwood Ferndale 11. 10 - 76

Coolbinia notching their second win which I will be honest, did not see coming until their scheduled clash with Swan View. Lynwood Ferndale for the moment are relatively safe, but if they don't win any more games and Coolbinia pick up a couple of scalps they could be in hot water.

Kingfisher Oval
Ballajura 13. 10 - 88
def.
Canning South Perth 10. 13 - 73

Canning South Perth for their 3rd game (they have actually played) in a row giving the top teams a scare. Ballajura holding them off but it would be interesting to see how this game was and if it was as fierce as the previous week for CSP

Thornlia Oval
Thornlie 11. 6 - 72
def.
High Wycombe 9. 6 - 60

Thornlie doing enough to hold off the Dogs, just. After Thornlie being 6 goals up at the last break, High Wycombe fought back hard to make the last 5mins turn into an absolute cracker of a game.

Gosnells Football Oval
Gosnells 14. 17 - 101
def.
Canning Vale 8. 7 - 55

Gosnells just continuing on with their dominant performance with an impressive 7 goal win. Canning Vale still for the moment safe in their 4th position.

Warnbro win through Swan View's forfeit.

Well I thought I'd give the mighty Demons a miss yesterday thinking they'd get a job done on them - pretty surprised with that outcome, but I reckon it gets better. I popped down to the Thornlie V High Wycombe game as that looked a good game. So I got there just after half time of the ressies and have got to say at the start there is a need for the WAAFL to get neutral umpires to all grades. The umpy for HW is bad, real bad, lets just say he gives his team a fair run!. But to my amazement, he does the league game as well and I must say, whilst the mighty redlegs were doing a job on Old Easts, this guy was doing a job on Thornlie and his other umpire!!! - they exchanged words, him moreso, at half time, but then about 5 minutes into the 3rd quarter he gets into a full on argument with the other central umpire - lots of yelling and finger pointing at each other for at least 20 seconds - there's not this much fun in the pig pen!I reckon the players from both sides were having a giggle. But must say, he is an absolute shocker, but worth going to Thornlie for the afternoon though - don't get these laughs from the big Duke at Perth.

Haha the high Wycombe umpire keeps them in the contest in both grades for long periods of time -loves to dish out the yellows and reds to opposition players for nothing at all

Having got to see the last two Canning games I had been very impressed. But they still have lost 3 in a row. Now sitting 7th. Almost knocked off Thornlie in one of the better amateur games I've seen in over 20 years in local footy. Played in good spirits too.

That can't be said for the game at Ballajura yesterday. The Balla umpire lost the plot in the second quarter and the Canning players and bench looked bewildered. The Balla umpires 10 minutes was laughable and embarrassing for amatuer. Ballajura gettin the rewards and got out to 5 goals in front I think.

I moved into the drinking section for the second half and believe it or not the faithful were calling the umpires cheats in the second half. Quite rich given their umpire was so one sided he could have pulled on a blue jumper then gave multiple cards to canning players for breathing on an opponent.

Canning stormed home and got close but Ballajura finished 3 goals clear I think. The cans set in at this point.

What I want to say and given the comments about the umpires at the other games. Games at this level, the 4th highest in amateurs, have started to be ruined and lose credibility with the club umpire system. yes things have been tried before but if anyone thinks player payments are the biggest problem in local footy you are wrong. Umpires who really are the 23rd man for sides in C2 and below is a joke. The WAAFL need to invest the ridiculous fees charged to clubs to spread more real umpires down the grades.

The high Wycombe umpire has a history of complaints and remarkable performances, he's the presidents son isn't he? And the comp refuses to make a stand and ban him.

If anyone from the WAAFL was at the Ballajura game yesterday and they were serious about integrity this bloke wouldn't umpire again. I then saw him drinking with the Balljura president with a blue scarf around his neck.

Shame on him.

I'm out of town for the next few weeks. Let's home the tigers are back in the finals race when I can see them again.

I have never really understood the insistence from the League on Club Umpires.

If we pay an EXTRA $100 per game for each of the two central umpires, that only works out at an additional $1,800 per season for each club.

It is simply Supply & Demand. Increase the money and independent umpires will come forward.

Match that with an increased level of obligation for each club as to umpire security and crowd behaviour and the problem is solved.

With the obvious bias shown by some club umpires it does disrupt the competition so I support association umpires throughout the league competitions

The canning umpire probably felt that canning deserved a little bit of fairness given the blatant cheating from the Ballajura umpire. Once an umpire started giving 100m penalty and cards for no reasons he moved into the cheating category. Obviously the posters here have had a raw nerve hit as this umpire is part of the Ballajura family. No wonder. Embarrassment of a club.

NoRunner / no Fucking idea.

You've made two posts ever on here. Both when your club which is embarrassing and has obviously used its club umpire to baby it through lower grades with cheating has been called out. I have no doubt if everyone one of those recent bits of success is tainted given what all was to see on Saturday.

Surely if you were there ( actually given the general IQ of the crowd, unlikely) you'd have been embarrassed.

It's now been confirmed that the Balla umpire told players from canning he would not be paying them free kicks, swore at them. He did look like a fiddler or someone who substitutes umpiring with break ins during the week.
