Melville 0.0 0.0 0.0 5.5 (35)

Well no surprises with the results at all. Wembley took care of Quinns, Mt Lawley won in a close on over Swan Ath, North Freo defeated Whitford as Collegians edged out Kingsway, as for Wanneroo...I shall touch on them later.

MrM awoke Saturday full of energy, yet was quite disheartened to see outside my window it was raining, for all who know MrM, know he enjoys his weather dry. Fear not though, by the time MrM had ordered his coffee and bacon & egg roll from his local cafe, the skies were clearing and it was looking like a promising day indeed. Especially when a lovely lass commented MrM had a glow around him today, MrM just smiled and winked thinking yes, today's my day.

After arriving at the ground at 10.30 so I could catch the start of the colts and enjoy my coffee and roll in peace, I was told I was in fact 40 minutes early as all games had been pushed back. MrM had no option, but to sit in silence and read the local and national news via the newspaper in which MrM startled to see, he was once again left off featuring in the social out and about pages.

When the colts game did kick off it was Wanneroo who dominated the early play however they couldn't convert on the scoreboard as Meville kicked a few quick goals to edge in front at quarter time . Wanneroo controlled much of the play in the second quarter and led at the half time break. It was a tight match all the way up to the conclusion , as scores were level with only a few minutes left before Wanneroo managed to kick the game winner. A good start to a good day, the Wanneroo colts can only continue to get better. They won by a goal for those wondering, even though I mentioned it.

MrM thought he'd mix it up today and head to the canteen earlier than expected, it was ok though as they were prepared for MrM. The hot chips were truly a treat, the gravy thick and MrM was definitely satisfied.

The reserves, well they got off to a poor start indeed. Meville played well early, it wasn't until half way through the first quarter till Wanneroo managed to fire up and it was all one way traffic from there on in. Wanneroo had managed to win by 100+ points.

The ladies at Wanneroo were flocking in for Ladies Day and it's fair to say MrM was in his element, as the ladies strolled in MrM managed to compose himself long enough to witness the League game.

Much like the Reserves Wanneroo League side started a bit slowly and no doubt their ears were still ringing from last weekends verbal barrage, they quickly shifted into gear. Unfortunately due to the plethora of people in the way MrM was unable to see the scoreboard, but I can assume Wanneroo was ahead at quarter time. In the second quarter, Wanneroo really put the foot down and continued to do as they pleased heading into half time with close to a ten goal lead.

At half time MrM tried his luck to woo a potential MrsM. In a shocking turn of events MrM tried, but it was to no avail. MrM wouldn't get a game under Billy Beans guidance at the Oakland A's because he simply couldn't get on base. I'd try my hand a few hours later...back to the footy.

It was simply one way traffic after half time, as if it wasn't before hand it certainly was now. Wanneroo worked hard and Melville simply did not. Wanneroo piled on the goals, and Melville did not. Wanneroo got first use of the football, Melville did not. Wanneroo had a good crowd on there side, Melville did not. In the end Wanneroo ran rampant over Melville in a turn which could hopefully see them gain some momentum for the rest of the season.

Joondalup Falcons played East Fremantle in a top of the table clash, in the WAWFL straight after the league game...Joondalup Falcons had a very good win also.

MrM tried his best to once again woo the ladies, in an uneventful evening MrM could be considered to have played like Michael Barlow. Lacking pace, class, and overall polish on my skills which ultimately led to my downfall from my long reign as Best Off Ground Performer.

Well done to all who managed to win on the weekend, MrM is looking to next weekend to lift on my performances.

Cracking write up as always Mr M

Sorry to hear about the lack of success on the lady front, back to the old Bailey on a Friday I reckon

Some good close games over the weekend

Lawley and ath looked like a cracker along with Kingsway and collegians,

North freo had a good win over north padbury

I reckon top 3 pretty well set, will be a good battle for the remaining 2 spots in the 5

Thanks BigShow. MrM usually has a quiet Friday but maybe I'm doing it wrong. I might head up to Rose & Crown this Friday night and try my luck before Swan Ath on Saturday.

Definitely. I think the top 3 is clear based on early season form, but could be only a small difference between 4th and 10th by seasons end, we wait and see.

I think he's retired unfortunately. It seems that winning the C1 Reserves Flag back in 2013 was the pinnacle of his success.

Mr M...FYI Michael Barlow played for Peel V SF on the weekend...He had 39 touches, completed 3 tackles even had 2 inside 50's but still he failed to kick a goal although did register one behind. Just wondering how your stats compared?

Dirty Weekender, I like that name, implies you're a hard off field worker much like MrM. Well if we worked solely on touches, MrM was well into the 50's with a few touches later on in the day suggesting MrM was just getting the junk time possessions, yet I worked hard early on and got into the right position, I just wasn't getting used.
I kept the women close, much like Ryan Crowley in 2014, I was playing the hard tag and I was doing it all for the team. Ultimately it lead to a team win, so it's not all about individual performance.

Maybe give the new Guildford hotel a crack ... I'm personally a big fan of Woodbridge hotel ... Mainly due to the parmi, that's about all the action I get these days when having a lurk

Anyway back to the footy spot on with the battle from 4th - 10th, what's going on down at ath, would of been a long time since they've been in this position, usually very strong b grade side always hovering around the top 5, Melville seem to have fallen away, also heard from last years C1 premiership side Quinns lost about 8-10 blokes to country sides, big number of blokes to lose but they seem to be going ok and giving a few teams a tough time on there home paddock

Will try my best to get down to a couple games if I can snag a Saturday arvo away from the fam and work and give some input into the thread

My old coach was always asking me to play wide and make space for the other forwards. He also said I would have made a great wingman if i had a little more leg speed. How he ever expected me to kick goals from out wide with no leg speed I never quite understood. Playing the team game is not always an easy role from my experience. Hope the ladies all acknowledged your hard work and sacrificial acts on the weekend.

Great write ups MR M,

Have only seen 2 ath games this year and unfortunately both been losses, missing 6-8 players from last years side through injury, retirement and MAD DOG offering up big cash to half of Perth to play at wongan. (see swan view results as well)

You might want to bring out your best attire again this week MR M as it is ladies day out in the valley, the day is sold out according to the whisper getting around on Saturday night so maybe a few potential MRS M's around.

are you still offering free pints if MR M can be identified by the valley faithful?
