It was just confirmed by David Armstrong, general manager at the waffl, that all A Grade players from last weekend have 14 days to sign a stat dec regarding remuneration . Failure to sign will result in a fine and or the player being deregisted.

Why stop at A Grade - If they want this to cease, then move onto B then C and watch the players leave for frivolous reasons

A step in the right direction from the WAAFL administration but is it just window dressing to shut everyone up from complaining, time will tell? Also how strongly will they act? I will also like to pose another question, why is it just A grade clubs are being scrutinised? Our club has lost players even after the season has started to other amateur clubs in both and lower grades and they have openly informed us they are getting paid but we refuse to pay or match the clubs offer. So what is going to happen to those clubs and players, will the league get everyone to sign stat decs?

It will never work guys
players become coaches, assistant coaches, reserve coaches what ever.

They could be bar manager but never work in the bar.

We need to deal with it develop the youth and move on

Im interested to know how clubs that pay players and they dont perform deal with the non paid players who do?

I know in Country leagues alot of teams have a paddock or crop they put in every year and use the money from harvesting that to go towards paying players and what not. There are some clubs paying upwards of $600 a game. If good players dont get paid for playing in the WAAFL they will leave. Good or Bad thing?

Funny as..... If the rumour mill is anything to go by, several players are on the hook with supposed evidence, just need them to hang themselves by signing a stat Dec.

The waafl is looking to make an example given the current unrest amongst many waafl clubs. Amazing what it takes to get the waafl off there asses.
Here's a tip, do this 10 years ago.

Don't need any of the above Caz. You can be sure that the WAAFL has evidence and as tug boat said, just need certain people to "hang themselves" by lying on a stat dec.

As stated on an Australian Government website, "It is important not to make a false statement in a statutory declaration. This is a serious issue. You may be charged with a criminal offence which carries the possibility of a fine or even jail".

I would warn anyone making a false declaration, it is not worth ending up with a criminal record. A criminal record has far reaching effects in terms of employment, insurances etc.

Please just quit amateur football like a Wembley player did a couple of years ago.
