AFL are cutting back on the dollars they spend on grass roots football so it will only get worse. In 10-20 years time soccer will become the national sport in Australia.

Aussie Rules with all its constant rule changes looks nothing like it once was.

You have to give it to soccer, very simple game, simple rules and simple to play and understand. This is why it will continue to thrive. Add in the fact the next generation coming through are the cotton wool kids, AFL will be relegated to the history books.

Just need to know how to act like you've broken a leg when someone brushes past.

unfortunately for me my son wants to play soccer instead of AFL. Hard pill to swallow but it's his choice.

Auskick teaches the kids nothing about our game. is a poor substitute and wont get people involved, it takes until under 13's before we can teach the game around tackling etc.

Soccer starts from a young age, teaches the basic game the whole way along, and its fun for kids to be playing the proper game and not some zoned off section game.

As far as teaching skills, being competitive and having fun soccer is way ahead of the AFL

In most district kids tackle in some form from 8 years old these days. No doubt a lot of work has to be done to keep it all relevant though. The continuing multiculturalism of Australia is also playing into Soccer's hands.

I like the bright spark on the commision that came up with the rule that an official from each club has to log every interchange that is made to make sure every player gets the same amount of game time. Cause we cant have the coaches concentrating on the what is happening during the game we have to make sure every kid is getting the same amount of time. Then came the points system where you can win every game but still not finish on top cause you get points for sportsmanship and how many times you made your bed that week. They should just scrap scoring games and give every player a premiership medal and association best and fairest at the end of every year to make it fair and politically correct. Australian Rules Football why cant we leave it how it was.

i can tell you now it has nothing to do with Money drying up..
it doesnt help with the ammount of sides in the area and when u have a new side like Piara Waters playing blokes to come and play reserves that doesnt help either.

Piara Waters paying players in C3?? Very agressive move to go up the grades quickly. It can back fire at that level. Good luck to them if it goes well and they dont get caught.

Gosnells have been spruiking for years that they dont pay their players.

I believe that the three playes that have left are all true Gosnells players with one being a life member and one last years F&B. The reason that they have left (of which i have heard through the grapevine) is the fact that Gosnells don't pay players and have gone to the country chasing money while they are still young enough to earn some decent coin.

That's a big call great game, you to Gaz, be careful when you throw mud.....it usually sticks........

Remember Piara waters isn't a new side, they were the old Huntingdale club. I would have thought it was in Gosnells best interests that they move from Huntingdale (5 minutes from Gosnells) to Piara waters (20 minutes from Gosnells)

Cant see how that new side effects you Gaz unless maybe your upset because they didn't call you and offer to pay you to play reserves.

I wasn't having a crack there mate. All said was it's an agressive move and good luck to them. They are only doing what other clubs are doing in otrher grades

You'll find that they are the old Southern River side not Huntingdale as they didn't have a senior side. Ironically, Southern River is the old Gosnells amateurs side which was disbanded in 1997.

The few players that still wanted to play on Sat formed "Southern River" and thier first year in the Sat comp of the Sunday League was 1998 coached by Lew Millsteed and capt by Duncan Pike, two former premiership players from Gosnells
