I take exception to that unholy. I played 20yrs of footy with Basso, another club who never paid. Our big battles at times in the 90's were with Ath in our pursuit for A Grade. We hated each other and games played were fierce and on reflection some of the more memorable games I played in. They made it, we didn't . Respect is earnt, they earnt mine even if as a club we hated them. Nothing to do with online wristies as you so eloquently put it.

Ok, on the same page now....the truth would be more interesting than fiction in relation to clubs that do pay. Surely Uni wouldn't have to with the numbers available to them for a start. Heard a few vicious rumours with regards to a couple of clubs in the northern corridor but personally I have no knowledge. Too far removed from ammos nowadays as my generation moves on but am an interested observer. I doubt most clubs in any grade could afford to pay but its possible i'm way off the mark in making that statement.

Whitfords and their new coach have been calling around offering generous remuneration in the last few weeks. It is believed another club has proof and may be making official complaint.

Yep. heard the first bit Mac. That's one of the 2 northern corridor clubs that smoke keeps eminating from.

I was involved in an A grade club for many years. We did not have the money to pay players but it was obvious that other clubs did. It was great beating them as when the going got tough they had their match payments and we're not paying for the club! Several clubs had ex WAFL players but did not win flags and then dropped down the grades very quickly afterwards.

The problem u have is that our coach probably called one player from your club and as a result a rep of swan ath is spreading vivacious untrue rumors online. That player will probably get a phonecall tmrw asking what the storey is?

You have jumped the gun there tugboat, the players receiving the calls werent from Athletic. Dont know about the Wooden comment, you are allowed to pay coaches last time I checked but closest dealings I have had is a beer in the bar while he presented awards.
