Tough day down at brown park, very disappointed not to get the4 points or at least grab a couple seeing as we led at every change, but not at the final siren!

Was very close all day, most the margin would have been is about 10 points

Swan view got the first couple of goals then Brentwood fought back to have a 1 point lead at qtr time
Again in the second, think swan view scored a couple, then we came back to lead by 3 points at half time.
The third was very even again, Brentwood led by 5 points at the final change. Full credit to swan view who kept coming all day, we won the first three qtrs but they won the 4th and managed to get out of jail to win by the smallest of margins! We had our chances but let it slip, we also hit the post three times which could have been the difference.

As much as it hurts this morning, we know if we keep performing we will get another crack at them and hopefully be able to reverse the result

Good day down in Cockburn for our league boys this week. We finally found our form that had been missing fir a few weeks. Our ball use and spread around the ground was fantastic as we lead at every change. Credit to the Cobras as a fair amount of their players doubled up both games.

Reserves was a different story. Lead at the first change then Cockburn got the jump on us and took the points. It seemed a lot closer at 3 qtr time as the scoreboard wasn't displayed properly after half time. A lot better effort from us this week but it just wasn't enough.

Looiing forward to next week as Aubs is back and we have Wembley at home. Win this one and we book our spot in finals one would say.

Interested to find out about the drawn game on the weekend between Osborne Park and Trinity Aquinas.

Good day for the Swamp Folk up on the hill at roleystone. Fair to say we were bolstered by north freo pulling out of the game against the young swamp colts on Friday night. Bit disappointing as the boys where looking forward to playing a night game at north. Managed to fit 9 of them in for a game up at roley which was good. Reserves was pretty one sided all day with the extra legs in some of the colts boys pulling them away for a big win in the second half and there 3rd win in a row which is really good considering the start of there season.

The league score dosnt reflect how good the game was for three quarters. Only 4 points in it at three quarter time and the jets came home with the breeze and used it well in the last to pull away 7 goal winners. Roleystones balcony was full of people and good to play in front of a country crowd on sponsors day;). Thanks to roley for handing out awards to us after the game and we were happy to stay for a few beers after the game.

Not trying to put a dampener on what was a really good, hard contested game but was the Brentwood umpire having an off day or is he always the 19th man for the Ressies and League? 2 things that I can't understand his reasoning other than trying to be bigger than the game and biased. The 1st would be when he penalised one of our Ressies players for swearing while talking to a team mate who was only metres away. The 2nd was when he penalised our boys and gave 50 metres which resulted in a goal and this time it was because of "abuse" from a supporter on the opposite side of the ground to the bench. The "abuse" was mild at best. Numerous other decisions during the dat were perplexing and we actually keep a count on the free kicks, to say it was one sided would be an understatement. Admittedly our umpire made a few bad calls but the discrepancy should not be anywhere near as wide as it was when the game is so close.

With regards to the contest,as stated by bulldog,it was a seesawing game where neither team was prepared to give in. We started well but after the 1st 5-10min our intensity dropped off and we let the dogs get too many uncontested possessions, especially forward of centre. We hung in their and at qtr time the damage wasn't too bad and we were able to address it.
Throughout the next 2 quarters Brentwood held a slender lead and at times looked to have control of the game, converting some easy goals but we kept on finding a way to stay in touch.
We got out to an 11 point lead midway through the last term only for Brentwood to respond this time with 2 goals. With a couple of minutes left we had a shot and missed, levelling things up. The ball was taken back to Brentwoods fwd 50 where we won the ball back and rushed it forward and took a contested mark 35 out with less than a minute to go. The result,a point and we won the game.
I'd think at the moment we will be playing again in 4 weeks time but 2nd spot is still up for grabs.
We play teams that are 3rd,4th and 5th in the lead up to the finals so that will be good for us to be challenged on a weekly basis. Still plenty of improvement in us as we were missing our full forward and 2 or 3 other regulars.

With regards to the other games, the final 5 is set after the Ozzy Park/TA's game which says a bit about both teams season. The River got back in some form and The Jets had a comfortable win over The Stoners. I noticed their colts had a forfeit win and were notified early so that was timely and no doubt gave them some extra zip.

Interesting to see you views mad dog, siding see you after the game for a beer though? We stayed for a couple!

In terms of the free and the abuse from supporters, it came from your supporters and from your ump, so don't under stand where you are coming from? Yes both umps made mistakes but when you boys whinged, which was most of the day, it was your ump who made the calls?

To top a bad day, being slugged $5 a stubb, which i thought may have to do with the frieght cost from suburbia, then seeing your supporters brought their own carton of jacks cans, I saw we had to cover costs.

In all was a good game of footy, now just looking forward to see you lot on the big stage, if we get there!

Didn't want to mention, but after I re read your post, and your sook on umpires, what was your take on the yellow on our full forward? Did he sneeze in the wrong direction or what?

Mad Dog, I only saw half of the League match, and in the ressies I was too busy chasing your CHFs tail all day to comment on which umpire was giving the frees or the count for & against. I can tell you though the Brentwood Umpire is definitely not the kind of person that would have an intentional bias. He has umpired the majority of the ressies games, along with a couple of thirds, league and colts through out the season so I'm sure other guys on here would comment if they thought his work was a bit of a miss.

With jandakot having to play swan view and Brentwood, fifth spot is still up for grabs

Always good to have a bit of post match banter.
Can't comment on the yellow, must have used bad language towards the umpire when disputing his call. If that's the case then i guess it's warranted but I couldn't hear from where I was. I personally hate it when umpires send blokes off for venting a bit of frustration as its an extremely passionate game,at least you can replace them nowadays. When one umpire is clearly favouring one team sometimes the other can tend to call some tiggy touchwood stuff in order to even it up. We generally think that our umpires tend to be a bit harsh on us in the hope of not looking to favour us.
With regards to the blokes with jacks carton, they've not been seen at a game all year but were spoken too and $4 or $5 is hardly something to worry about mate when youve bought 2 beers! We pay that price weekly and are happy to do so.
Oh,and that 50 metre penalty was definitely paid by your umpire but he then handed control to our umpire and when the free kick count discrepancy is hitting the teens it can get a little frustrating but I thought our boys held it together extremely well and continued to play the cards we were dealt. That supporter was at least 20 metres from the boundary and for all we know could be any random.
Anyway, moved on,we both have a big few weeks in the lead up to the finals. Hopefully we meet again, both contests so far this year have been played in good spirits and it will be another cracker no doubt.
