Ocean Ridge (C1) 0.0 0.0 0.0 7.4 (46)

A few big results on the weekend, the battle for relegation is wide open and the battle for 5th on the ladder is as equally wide open.

Mr Mysterious enjoyed a lovely sleep in on Saturday morning. I arrived just in time for the colts game to start. Pretty close colts game. Scores went back and forward in a scrappy game. I noticed that the playing surface was less than acceptable. Sand in the middle of the ground and the goal squares. I heard that the problem areas would be re-turfed throughout the week. ( hopefully he isn't wrong, as I doubt in its current condition it would be fit to host finals.)
A little biff on the 3qrt time siren where some colts players let off some steam. Wanneroo ended up running out winners. Top5 for the colts competition is pretty much set, just a matter of the order now.

It was time to enjoy some hot chips a few beers and settle in for an evening of close football.
The reserves game was a disappointing one for Wanneroo. Never really in the contest all day. Onion Ridge have certainly improved in the past 8 weeks. I'd look forward to a finals match up between these two teams. Probably own spur note was the Onion Ridge coaching staff sledging one of Wanneroo's players. Not sure if that's totally appropriate, however each to their own.

I was looking forward to a night league game. Wanneroo started well in the first quarter kicking a goal in the first minute of the game. It was a very even first quarter with Wanneroo squandering some opportunities. Onion Ridge matched well with Wanneroo and at half time they only trailed the Roo's by 1 point. After disappearing into the club rooms to have a beverage or 4 I emerged after the break to find that torrential rain had dampened the ground. During the third and fourth quarters it was very different football. Wet weather football, as it continued to rain down the game was close. I think it stopped raining somewhere during the last quarter. There was only a few points in it all day. Until Wanneroo kicked away in the last 5 minutes and won by 18 points. I'm sure all the crowd had a good time probably about 500 people witnessed a close tight game.

After results on the weekend Onion Ridge still sit in the top 5. With Gosnells losing a lot of percentage.

Looking forward to next weekend against Lynwood Ferndale.
Hope to hear from some other games!

Rams by comfortable margins in both grades.

Reserves the marging was 120 plus and for a while showed up at 1000+ on the match day results. I suspect Rooty may have entered the result and was looking for an early collect given he tipped 1000+. Was pretty much one way traffic most of the day but the game was played in good spirits and hopefully the Cooly boys get a W before the season over. Best on ground going to the Coolbina umpire, did his best to limit the damage, get Cooly a goal, and mouth off at any rams player within 50m.

League was a interesting game, Coolbinia flew out of the blocks and held a 5 goal advanatge at the first break and were looking dangerous all over the ground. After that the rams picked up their intensity and kicked 20 of the next 22 goals to run out 80 point winners.

As Mr M satated the fight for the final couple of positions in the 5 are still up for grabs with the relegation battle to go down to the wire.

Roos won by 22 points had it in our half of the ground for almost the whole of the second half just a lot of dribbled through points in the torrential rain

Correct TheBigRoo, I can't count, the margin was indeed 22 points. Wanneroo did kick 14 points, to it was a dry day, I'd say they would have kicked at least half those

Kingsway won the ressies with a goal in the last minute after trailing all day.

Kelmscott jumped Kingsway with the 1st 2 goals and looked like a million dollars for the 1st 10 minutes but then it was pretty much all 1 way traffic with Kingsway winning comfortably by 5 goals which was a big turnaround from the 1st time they met when Kelmscott won by 12 goals

Looks to be a race in 4 for the flag for mine with Wanneroo the obvious favourite with Kelmscott, Melville & Kingsway all capable on there day.

If they can get their best side on the park mr hangover they can compete with the others no problem. Still missing 2 - 3 from the weekend that will hopefully be back this week if not the following week when they host wanneroo in what should be 3 cracking games in all 3 grades

Only missing 2 or 3. Most clubs I would say would be pretty happy with only that amount of players missing at this stage of the season. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

2 or 3 missing would be fantastic for most clubs, My team tends to have two or three more missing each week so would be happy to be in Kingsway's position of only having a couple off full strength.

I really think its a race in two and I think that because Wanneroo have rolled along all year out in front of the pack they havent been challenged for long periods of time. If they are placed under pressure for long enough they will either prove they are the best team in C1, or they could choke due to the pressure and expectation.

I Dont think Kelmscott will go far and believe they could go out in straight sets. The players are leaving a sinking ship, and im not sure if they can afford feul cards to get all they key players to away games late in the season. Lack of colts or decent reserves players shows that without theri best 22 kelmscott will striggle.

I think Melville can give some cheek, and could end up in a pre lim, but I think a lack of consistency during the year will cost melville along the way. Add the fact of again no colts and the depth of melville can be tested.

So that leaves Kingsway, they will roll along, nail a top three finish and get a free hit at wanneroo somewhere along the way. It doesnt need to be until grand final day, but this is the day most favourites are vulnerable - ask any hawks supporter from last year. I think Kingsway can win, especially if they are only a couple away from full strength, and I predict Steelo will be drunk for some time as part of the celebration..............

Good luck to everyone over the remaining 5 weeks
