Mt Lawley surprise point winners over Wesley Curtin. Collegians with perhaps a clutch win against Maddington which keeps their chances of staying alive in A Grade. Beach kicked a goal after the siren to get up over TA's by the narrowest of margins. The fight for the two elimination finals spots now on in earnest as is the fight to avoid relegation.

Well done to Mount lawley on a big win. Nice to see Collegians get a win. Uni too good for Ath and from what I saw were comfortable winners all day. Whitfords seem to be improving as the season goes on. North Beach winning and apparently having the game handed to them.

This could be a turning point for the WAAFL to speak to their umpires about only enforcing rules that exist. From my knowledge (a Beach player actually told me) the umpire paid a free kick after the siren to Beach in front of goal. This is not within the rules and a clear example there is something wrong. They are generally not bad all the time but are let down by clear howlers.

What if TA miss out on finals from this loss? There are all in melee's in all different leagues following the siren including the AFL/WAFL yet an umpire never pays a free kick after the siren.

MacAttack you seek to be fairly harsh on the umpires. Perhaps you should venture down to there training and ask them yourselves

MacAttack, my understanding is that the free was paid before the siren although I was not there so I may be mistaken. The North Beach website has a review of the game though.
Its never a good thing to lose a game after the siren regardless and I'll bet Clayton Gardiner's blood vessels in his neck may not have subsided even by now.

Guys I was at the game, the free kick was paid for in the back in a marking contest, some say it was there some say it was not, does not matter because the ball should not have been down that end, Ta's had the ball in there forward 50 with 30 secs to go and should have been able to keep it there, but in an emotion charged close finish decisions are made that would probably not occur in a not so pressured situation. When you look at the score 13- 14 to 15-3
Ta's had there chances, beach took there's. Don't know if my ticker can take many more finishes like that, a Great game to watch.TA's Ressies displayed an outstanding pressure game to give beach there first loss of the year, I suspect beach were missing a few but TA's were relentless, bring that game next week to cbc and it should be another cracker.

Having another crack at the umpires MacAttack? Obviously weren't at the game...the NB full forward got paid a free kick for a push in the back (that's still in the rules isn't it) about 20 seconds before the final siren sounded. He went back and slotted the goal after the siren rand from about 40m out straight in front.
Didn't hear too many TAs supporters go off except the canteen lady who called the umps f#%king cheats as the made their way to the sheds. Not that she would have seen the free kick from her cage as it was down the other end. She should stick to making more hamburgers and hot dogs as there didn't seem to be much available and it was one of the smallest A grade crowds I've seen for years.
I don't think TAs will miss out on finals and certainly not because of one free kick being paid. With 9ore scoring shots if they had of kicked straighter then they might of walked away with the 4 points, but they didn't and Beach to their credit took the opportunity to go home victorious.

The free kick was paid before the siren with 15 secs left on the clock. I thought the umpires umpired well all day. Paid very few free kicks. The final contest of the game, man on man, resulting in a terrific mark by the TA's backman.
Instead of it being a Leo Barry moment, with the accompanying elation from the TA's crowd, it became one of disbelief when the crowd realised the whistle was in fact for an infringment in the contest. One decision doesn't cost you the game.If you fail to put away a side like North Beach, when given numerous opportunities to do so,you will pay the ultimate penalty.

Junior was Dardy anry with the Maddo boys after Saturdays loss especially when he predicted wins against TA's and Collegians to consolidate 3rd spot?
