Am I not sure WHY the Perth Football League doesn't make the hard decision and cancel the season.

Players have lost interest and the Covid-19 virus will only get much worse by the end of the nominated date of recommencement.

Footy is not the priority now and players and committee members need to address their work and family concerns.

According to the premier, apparently 19 new cases of cv have been reported since yesterday. Not sure if the new cases are only slight, mild or severe? I know of the 120 current positive readings from WA, one of those is a serious case. With the number of cases likely to rise in western australia, will only be a matter of time before the PFL either - a) Postpones the season start, or b) simply cancels this season altogether.
Looking likely the latter will be the option.

The PFL has already been postponed till 14 June, becoming more likely by the day that the season will be cancelled.

Tiger Tales,
Understand frustration.
However i dont think most clubs would/could agree.
Its about cash flow and financial stability.

Trying times, again would suggest just to wait to see what unfolds.
I believe a revised 9 game fixture program is about to be released by PFL...which of course we all know may change.

Stay safe and healthy all.

Not frustrated Stinker, I just think the reality of this global situation will see the whole season cancelled.

Since it was announced that the season would be postponed, we have seen significant tightening of the government mandated social distancing rules, borders have been closed and travel between regions in WA is now limited. All indications are that these restrictions will be in place for a number of months as we try to flatten the curve.

In the unlikely situation that COVID-19 is contained and the social distancing restrictions have been lifted, allowing training to recommence as of 1 June, the PFL and Clubs have a Duty of Care to ensure that the players are physically ready to play football after 11 weeks away from footy training.

Given that most Clubs complete a 2-3 month pre-season, you'd have to question whether 2 weeks on the track is enough before the proposed 9 game season kicks off on 13th June.

I think if we get to June and the season goes ahead people won’t be too fussed about preseason etc. People would just want to be outside and active again and be around their mates.

Let’s not pull the pin now, there is no need to make a decision at this time. The government are changing their minds from day to day and we have to make a decision based on that information now??? Why?

We have two months, let’s use it. And let’s give people some hope that things could get back to normal in the near future.

The Season is gone.
Is it just me, or is the AFL and all its sub-bodies just blind or stupid. There is no way in the world that anyone will be playing footy this year. They will be lucky if they play next year on time.
we have separation distances for the next 6 months, no matter what. Its just getting started lads. We might be lucky in WA to get a handle on it quickly and control it to a slow spread, but make no mistake, you wont be going back to normal things until next year. We need to keep our state and international borders closed for a fair while.
The government is shelling out 300 billion plus dollars to try and keep the country alive, and people think its going to be all over in two months and we will be kicking the footy. FFS - wake up
Europe is on its knees now, the US is in real trouble and Indonesia is going to get the biggest hit as they are doing nothing. Its about life or death.

Amen to that Sniper. The oxygen thiefs from the AFL WAFL and PFL who keep banging on are in fantasy land. It’s done and dusted finite Kaput! Let’s start worrying about getting through this with our health and economy still salvageable. It’s abject nonsense they keep talking about it. Can’t wait to the AFL returns to sensible financial salaries and only essential coaching & medical staff

Today there were only 7 new cases of Covid-19. 6 were from the Cruise Ship and the other was from overseas.

Community transmission is almost non existent.

Do you have the same stance if we go the 2-3 weeks of no community transmissions?
