DD wrote: But going with a streaming service basically means you have to go with a rip off full blown max speed unlimited NBN service at the slick price of around $100 a month. When they catch up with the rest of the world and that comes down to around $60 a month I'll consider it. We are being absolutely conned with this NBN disaster.

Not sure what on earth you are looking at but most NBN 50 Mpbs speeds ( more than enough for live streaming ) are well cheaper than that.

And pretty soon the old ADSL is being turned off any way.

Think we are on similar set up for $90 with Optus Sport/Fetch TV chucked in as well.

I was on TPG 50 plan, u/l download max speed 40 something but in reality you most likely getting half that speed. I suggest you download the speed test app and check what speed you are actually getting.

I'm with Boost mobile which uses the Telstra network and I've got up to 200 plus MBPS. The TPG plan I was on I got only 20 something, was paying an extra $10 for free local and calls to mobiles but you still pay about 30c a call to 13 numbers. That plan costs $69.99 plus $10 for the call package so I decided for over $80 a month for what I was getting did not represent good value.

But I value having a home phone so I downgraded to $50 a month but get a max nbn speed of 11mbps and 50 peak 50 off peak download limit. Between that and $40 a month mobile plan I think I get 30 gig a month but any unused rolls over and unlimited calls to any number (incl 13) and cheap o/seas rates to most countries.

Speed test regularly - Im on 50Mbps and always get 46-47 peak times, never goes much below that.

Which is more than enough for what I need, when you consider you can run live-stream on as low as 5Mbps.

Got my landline still NFI why.. hardly use it, all my calls are via Messenger or via Skype these days, cost sfa.

27 will be plenty for Kayo, no issues.

Thailand has a far better internet service than the Abbott/Turnbull abortion known as the NBN. On the other hand, mobile (4G/3G) is way behind Oz.

As I have a reliable 200/50 fibre connection with unlimited download, (and less government restrictions) I can stream pretty much anything, but have retained my access the ABC Australia TV service. This shows 6 AFL games per weekend, with ad interruptions only during normal breaks (1/4, 1/2 time etc). Other games I can stream, as above.

All this (plus 4G phone) for about $45/month.

This is a speedtest just done:

A straight 1000/100, unlimited fibre plan is available for less than $50/month.
