WA People are just Bunnings thats it.

Harris Scarf was massive in SA, they tried here for a while but never really got a hold, I rememebr they took over the Cottesloe Boans Store ( another one gone)

But with Myer Aherns ( another one gone) there just wasnt a big enough market here.

When I was a kid we had

Boans
Bairds
Foys
Aherns
Moores
Myer
Woolworths ( dept stores not supermarkets )
Coles Variety Stores - Perth and Freo,

Super Markets

Freecorns
Charlie Carters
Stammers
Tom the Cheap
4 Square
Foodland

All gone.

My mum worked in Woolworths department store on Albany Hwy Vic Park, directly opposite the Vic Park centre I think it's called, on the corner of Mint St.

There was also the Economic Store on the corner of Hay & William Streets - now known as the Walsh's Building.

Bring back Worths. Men's and Boys clothing. They used to sell a lot of school clothing but it's probably a good little money spinner for the schools these days. I bet that was another WA family business that got gobbled up by an eastern states crowd and lost its heart and soul.

And the latest news being the US owned Tech company Bose. Having a bit of financial strife apparently. And closing 120 stores worldwide. Not sure how many stores/ staff will be affected in Australia? it is believed some Bose stores operating in Asia and the Middle East will remain.

Was a real shock a couple of weeks ago to hear McWilliam’s Wines being Australia's sixth biggest wine company run by the same family for more than 140 years, announced it had also appointed voluntary administrators.

Then soon after popular video game chain EB Games’ turn, with the business confirming it was closing at least 19 stores across the country within weeks.

only thing I always made a point of was checking the tag on the Levi's that they were made in the USA & the studs were the genuine items
pity during the late 1980 to 90's the price doubled then soon tripled - at least the bloody things are near indestructible and can end their life as a pair of beach shorts when the knees finally bite it
