BC wrote: Not a surprising result given the demographic a station like 6PR would attract. It also goes to show generally how much Shorten is disliked. If Labor had a half way decent leader they'd get in by the length of the straight and potentially be a two or three term government....as it stands this election should see a new broom sweep through the Libs with the likes of Dutton et al given the arse and every chance of getting back into government in 4 years time.

On another note, I thought this announcement would bring Sean and his dribble kicking and screaming back into the fold. He must really have thrown his toys out of the cot this time.

Not sure abut the 6pr audience anymore mate, the days of Howard Sattler are long long gone, Ive heard a few of these survey of more recent times and normally its a lot more mixed. This was overwhelmingly Libs. I reckon the tax plans have really motivated a big swag of people to turn on them. Bowen is a complete gimp, how they can give him the No 2 job is beyond me, he has been an abject failure in every port folio he's had.

As for Sean , he's long gone as well, cracked it chucked a sad and ran away - he won't be back. Don't miss him tbh,

I see Richo was on Sky last night saying his prediction is that Shorten will win by more than Hawke did in 1983, that's 25 seats! That's a massive win.

The polls have been pretty steady in recent times at around 52/48 in Labor's favour and should stay that way although I wouldn't be surprised if it comes in a bit nearer to the big day. Anything around that will see Labor gain up to 10 and the Coalition lose around the same which will allow Labor to govern in their own right and wouldn't be a complete wipeout for ScoMo which I think is a preferred result.

Yep BC, the strategy reading between the lines in clearly sandbagging and saving the furniture so as to have a real crack in 3 years time, we know after the last episode Labor govern pretty badly and turn toxic pretty quick, it only takes a few of the big labor tax hits to start having an adverse impact , the boats starting again and suddenly the libs are in with a big chance after one term.

Bowen seems set on these Negative Gearing changes, what people seem to forget is Keating tried the same thing in the 80s, it was a shambles and within 18 months had reversed it, Keating was a hell of a lot smarter than Bowen will ever be on the economy, no treasurer has been dumb enough to touch it since labor or liberal, I can see that alone turning to crap, Bowen has an atrocious record in Cabinet.. a miracle he is still hanging around.

He was Immigration Minister and over saw one of the biggest policy failures since Federation as the boats flooded in, as a result was given the arse from it and moved to some junior port folio, he also ended up getting the flick from cabinet after trying to stab Gillard in the back the first time.

Well that clears it up in some respects and clarifies it in others. It appears to be all about the boats again (good strategy from Abbott, he certainly gave it a good solid bleat), by the way can you please outline when he (Bowen) was 'flicked from the cabinet', by whom and how?

Bazz i can understand them wanting to look at Neg gearing but its more and ES problem given the massive housing boom they have had and the proportion of properties being bought buy overseas buyer pushing the prices up, but a change to NG would be a disaster here in the West it would just about kill off a building industry that is already on life support.

If Shortarse was to restrict NG only to apply to investments in established properties purchased after the NG changes and leave it off new properties, it would push investors to the new building market and give a big bust to the building industry which has a substantial job multiplier effect. Unlike established properties, new builds increase the rental stock, which will ease the pressure on rental prices, win win all round.
