Not sure what to read into all this? Apparently the morrison government has lost ground with voters, with the Coalition trailing Labor by 47 to 53 per cent in two-party terms in the wake of the federal budget.
However Morrison remains the preferred prime minister compared to the Opposition Leader, leading by 46 to 35 per cent, a similar gap to previous surveys.
Don't worry about all this fluffy talk of electric vehicles. Still a long way off.
i regularly drive past an electric vehicle charge station and never, never have I seen anybody use it!

Short of anything drastic happening in the next 6 weeks, there will be no cliff-hanger. The Coalition is going to really struggle in Melbourne and country Victoria and NSW. It might not all flow to Labor but it will be enough to unseat a National or two in the bush. They will also go backwards in WA, even if only by a seat or two. I can't see a realistic pathway for them to maintain Government. If they sand-bag or breakeven in Sydney and QLD, its not going to be enough to win.

They are on the nose with the general public and the writing is on the wall with so many senior ministers leaving. I can't see them inspiring anyone with new policies and will rely on a negative campaign to hold seats. That wont be enough compared to a more visionary, optimistic Labor party (even if they are weighed down by the uninspiring Shorten).

In terms of Labor's policies, they've put out most of their bad stuff (aka the great big new taxes) a long time ago so will reap the dividends now. The Electric Vehicle goal isn't as crazy as it sounds. All manufactures are increasing their presence in this space and other Govts are establishing similar goals as well. Its not going to win or lose them government, but it 5-7 years time, its going to seem a pretty sensible/mainstream policy to at least have an ambitious target in this space.

Yeah the electric car thing is a shambles, thought bubble, listened to a Electron Physics guy talk about it on the radio Sunday said its all total BS, you are never going to able to speed up recharge times enough to make it viable in 10 mins, cars need 7 or 8 hrs for a recharge over night.

Was that the one on PR? Very interesting listing. Some things never change, Shortman handles the truth in the same manner as he did when he was the union bagman.

Yes mate that was him , a real insight into the pure crazy fantasy that Shortens Jetsens idea is.

Two terms are about as long as any party will get now, the Libs have sorted the boats issue and it’s all but forgotten, now it’s just the general mood for change and about who can give me the most free give sways , hang the expense and the damage it will do to the economy.

So when the Federal Energy Minister says this:

The ultra-rapid charge will provide a range of up to 400km in just 15 minutes, compared to a current charging time of several hours.

and half the federal LNP members are up the electric car industry representatives' clackers, it must also be "total BS" and "pure crazy fantasy".

Jack there's a couple of start-up electric car companies in Australia. One in Melbourne making a mini bus+hiace type van.Dan Andrews gave them some cash. Some bloke in Queensland trying to do something with a Vw Caddy van.Australia Post already drive an EV Renault Kangoo Van.
Some law got passed in British Parliament yesterday. If you drive in London a 4 year old Diesel car.Or a 13 year old petrol car you have to pay $20 a day levy.Think Paris already does something similar.

It is also inevitable, xu1, that electric cars, along with driverless cars, will be seen more and more on Australian roads.

The ALP policy talks about changes leading up to 2030 - more than 10 years away. To believe that technology will not progress at the rapid rate needed to achieve that goal is to be either blinded by politics, or means you have your head firmly in the sand..

These cock heads that compare us to European countries all the fking time trying to force cycling down our throats, electric cars, ban this ban that. FMD we ain't Europe where if you drive 700km you've probably passed through 6 borders of 6 different countries. It's like comparing apples with bananas.

How's that experimental RAC built driverless bus going that actually has a driver? What was it's Max speed? 25 km an hour or some crap? How's that going, we haven't heard jack about it since it was launched at least a year or more ago and pretty sure I saw it the other day on the now abandoned RAC race track at the back of the airport.

Not safe for roads hey at 25km an hour so back to testing it on a closed circuit where there's no public cars and pedestrians. Lol

Electric cars are coming for sure they will have their place but they will have their limitations for a long time and they will give the pot head greenies another thing to complain about. What to do with dead batteries. Lol
Get on your bike.

Having head in sand is making plans for something's that's impossible, Shortens plan is to have 50% of car in Australia electric in 10 years, absolutely no details or policy around it at all...starting to sound like Rudds NBN.
