I concur with BH , Bazza, Cesspit and co, i couldnt give a rats sphincter who wins AFL each week in reality, i follow it in passing like Bazza does and its probably more like the old days where following VFL was secondary to WAFL, i do follow Hawthorn and hope they win but it doesnt cut me up if they lose like it does if SD lose and i couldnt name half the side playing this weekend for Haw, whereas i dream about Swans. If the AFL imploded tommorow through more scandals i would get blind celebrating it to be honest!
I hangout each week for WAFL world and the SD show on 91.3fm and im always watching my many old discs of SD footage from 1980 til now, and myself and Leedy often get together having WAFL nights, watching footage over a few drinks

What about the 1980 GF mate - watch that a few times ..lol I've worn my tape out!

nah in all seriousness, I agree AFL is just not that important to me. Plus they shafted the WAFL, if it folded tonight I would actually be happy like you!

Haha mate i havnt got a copy of that one thank f**k that was one that got away, but i suppose 83 was a season that got away for you after being minor premiers! :D
Beneath the Southern cross i stand, on Bassendean Oval, can in hand, Swan Districts, you Farkin Beauty!

As I have mentioned previously I thought one of the distinguishing features of the Dockers compared to the Eagles was that they had a soul. However, there decision to unilaterally change their jumber, their contempt shown to the WAFL competition indicates to me that they have gone down the same path as the Eagles. as a consequence if the Dockers only won two games per year (and no prizes guessing whicg games they would be) I won't be too upset.

I know two members who have gone from supporting the Dockers or Eagles to supporting neither as a direct consequence of their attitude to the WAFL.

I respect your right to hold a differing view and remarkably we have agreed on one thing so far this year. I don't have a problem discussing footy or non-footy topics with you. It would be very boring if we all supported one team or one side of politics etc.

As to the propensity to ignore the AFL by most on here; I suspect that it is a silent protest of what has happened in the WAFL. I would think that most here who post on WAFL subjects consider it their number one footy competition and that the AFL runs a very distant second.

As a cautionary note to any WAFL/WAFC personnel if they think the response from true WAFL supporters has been strong; try changing the name of the WAFL to AFL WA and see how extensive and passionate the response.

Agree with you on most of that Swan.

For me I simply have ZERO interest in AFL, I have no connection to any of the clubs.

I have a passing interest in the game/politics and some of the identities etc. But that is where it ends, I have no drive to make a post or even read any of the rare posts on the AFL threads.

Some of the best threads here are on the general topics, its a bit like a virtual pub,,Swan and I chew the fat on politics etc just like you would at the pub...got a bit of interest and passion in it unlike AFL clubs I guess.

Ditto - I also have absolutely no faith or following for the AFL - it is purely a business model with an unclear brand
Tainted to it's core - only time I see anything is either forced via Online , Telly or paper
Much rather go to the members bar and enjoy grassroots WAFL!

Proud & loyal Bulldog & WAFL man

Cheers!

I have to admit the main reason I don't comment on AFL is the same as Talking Footy. It's too hard with how this is set up. I barely even scroll down that far when I'm logged on. Scrap all the team talk and just have west coast, Freo and general AFL to make it easier

Personally I take little interest in the AFL, but am always keen to comment on the influence it has on the sport we follow. Where they introduce new franchises, rule changes, etc ultimately impacts on the sport as a whole and I take an interest there although I don't give a crap what happens to the "teams" that participate in it.

Perhaps the problem here is this site is called "ozfooty" so I am totally behind anchorman's question given this site is not called "wa footy" for example. it's a fair question.
