A/man here goes from my personal perspective and experience I have had with a couple of AFL members who are Swans' members as well. As I have mentioned previously I thought one of the distinguishing features of the Dockers compared to the Eagles was that they had a soul. However, there decision to unilaterally change their jumber, their contempt shown to the WAFL competition indicates to me that they have gone down the same path as the Eagles. as a consequence if the Dockers only won two games per year (and no prizes guessing whicg games they would be) I won't be too upset.

I know two members who have gone from supporting the Dockers or Eagles to supporting neither as a direct consequence of their attitude to the WAFL.

I respect your right to hold a differing view and remarkably we have agreed on one thing so far this year. I don't have a problem discussing footy or non-footy topics with you. It would be very boring if we all supported one team or one side of politics etc.

As to the propensity to ignore the AFL by most on here; I suspect that it is a silent protest of what has happened in the WAFL. I would think that most here who post on WAFL subjects consider it their number one footy competition and that the AFL runs a very distant second.

As a cautionary note to any WAFL/WAFC personnel if they think the response from true WAFL supporters has been strong; try changing the name of the WAFL to AFL WA and see how extensive and passionate the response.

Agree with you on most of that Swan.

For me I simply have ZERO interest in AFL, I have no connection to any of the clubs.

I have a passing interest in the game/politics and some of the identities etc. But that is where it ends, I have no drive to make a post or even read any of the rare posts on the AFL threads.

Some of the best threads here are on the general topics, its a bit like a virtual pub,,Swan and I chew the fat on politics etc just like you would at the pub...got a bit of interest and passion in it unlike AFL clubs I guess.

anchorman wrote: I am wondering why it is that so few here make comment on the AFL.Aside from the fact that there are those who refuse to admit that the WAFL is a second tier competition and say they don't follow the AFL.
I see so many of the same people here who were on footygoss, and who used to make regular comment there, but they seem to refuse to make comment now here. Why!!!Are you afraid that those who support the WAFL will attack you for your views!!!
I understand that the WAFL is still a big part of peoples lives and I appreciate that, but why is the AFL such a forbidden subject here!!!
I don't expect every forum post I make to be a huge talking point ,but am I such a pariah because I don't have the same passion for the WAFL now that others do?
Lets be honest, how many of you follow a side in the AFL!!I bet there are not many that don't follow a side.
I am amazed that this is a football forum, yet the major football in the country is basically ignored here.A forum is for talking about the subject why not make a contribution now and then.
If we are not careful this site will go the same way as footygoss.
I stand now to accept the reasons and abuse.Fire away fellas.

Can't you accept that not everyone is interested in the AFL. We are not all brainwashed by the general AFL media both here and nationally. We are WAFL people, that's what this site was set up for. The majority of posters on here I think wouldn't give a toss about who wins in the AFL every week.

Since this city has two teams in the AFL how about giving them their own threads instead of being lost in the "bunch" in the AFL section? What do ya reckon George/Mike?

I posted a bit on this AFL's site, but found it a bit quiet. TBH anchor, I'm one of those 'small minded' people that you're throwing stones at. If you remember I was a big Eagles fan on FG, but I feel a bit deflated at what the Eagles and Dorks have done to the WAFL. I don't blame them, as that was their only viable option left, but I do blame the 2 backstabbing, sleazebag clubs that allowed themselves to be throw across the barrel and cop an AFL pineapple. I still support the Eagles, albeit less boisterously, but my main love is the WAFL club I have followed for some 55 years. I don't have the analytical footy mind nor the footy brain that many on this site have, but the Sharks are my team for all occasions. If that makes me 'small minded' then so be it, I couldn't really give a rats what people think of me on this subject.
And THAT'S my heart on my sleeve!

Fair dinkum anchorman you truly are a couple of cans short of a 6 pack arent you??
Why on earth would this great site go the way of footygoss just because 99.9% of us want to talk about the WAFL or Amateurs or the great SANFL wrap that SAMATT does each week?
The owners of this site George & Mike are WAFL men who have set up this site for those of us who want to chat about the latest WAFL/Ammos/Country/SANFL/NEAFL news, games, gossip etc.
Why cant you understand that not everyone gives a toss about the AFL?
We get enough of that bloody Victorian centric comp shoved down our throats by the pathetic media everyday some of us just want to chat with like minded people who enjoy WA & or grassroots footy!
Is that too hard for you to understand??
If it is so I suggest you piss off over to big footy for your boring old VFL chat & leave the real footy talk to us here on ozfooty!!

Although I am disappointed with what has happened to the WAFL competition, this has not made me hate the AFL or not want to talk about it, because I still enjoy watching AFL on TV. Then again I can't imagine anything better than an afternoon watching Swans at Basso. One thing that has affected my interest in the AFL this year is the off field stuff like the dark cloud of IV injections, chemicals and supplements which seems to have enveloped the game. Where we thought only one club involved, there now appears to be another club (Melbourne) which has had contact with Dank and who knows that may be just the tip of the iceberg.
