Well I attended the game at Optus today, 55k tickets were sold but the official crowd was 41,900 ish which looked about right at 2/3 full but I was there to experience the stadium and its a wondefull facility. At any one time there must have been 10k plus just wondering around the concourses and the surrounds which are superbly planned and landscaped, so i got my $2 worth. Public transport was a breeze.

So at 41,900 punters thats a record low attendance for the stadium;)

I reckon it is realty tv unk. Hey Pete, you’re obviously a man of the future. Perhaps you could contact Gil the Dill and you could be his advisor?

IT IS REALITY tv S58. My theory is tell ppl something long enough and they will believe it. Stuck in the 70'my ar$e PN. A crap rproduct is a crap product. Why if it demands so much media hype, why oh why is it free??

So by your reasoning, an old mans opinion isn’t worth shite. So please tell me, at what age does a person’s opinion not count? Sounds like you’ve got no effin idea what footy used to be like.....sounds like you’ve got no effin idea at all Pete.

I was there this afternoon and thoroughly enjoyed it. I thought the crowd was around 35,000. The atmosphere was fantastic and the skills were better than I was expecting. The bigger ground gave the players a little more space to move the ball and the Dockers in particular put together some good passages of play. Haters will always hate but I think that interest in womens football will continue to be strong.

We're talking here about giving girls another opportunity to get outside, exercise and play footy if they want to. Certainly much better than the other option of sitting at home on a computer eating burgers and getting fat.Unfortunately the media hype comes with everything these days and is what young people respond to.

Damn right we're jealous AM that this rubbish, (and that's what it is there's no sexism about it), this rubbish is nearly getting the same media space that the men's afl gets. Meanwhile, the WAFL gets squat. And the fathom in standard is infinitable.

And I must add that I am calling it rubbish without even seeing a single minute of an "aflw" game pretty much ever, but I know I'm right

mikeh I an personally not against the development of women's footy and I a agree totally with your sentiment about getting girls outside and playing a sport. My beef is what is planned which I personally consider to detrimental to the WAFL clubs. I also believe that severing the link between the girls' youth team and women's reserves team and the women's league team is counter-productive. Further I think the underlying reason for the decision is to ensure that those at the WAFC have a raison d'etre for existing when inevitably (and very soon unfortunately) the WAFL clubs fold.

Mikeh would you have paid an AFL or WAFL entry fee to watch that AFLW match at Optus on the weekend?....considering the quality of the spectacle and the atmosphere you mentionedh mate......sounded like folk got value for money at $2.....at what price would u have had second thoughts....just interested as I think the novelty of AFLW footy will be tested when folk are made to dig deeper into their pockets like in the AFL.

... Frustrating though considering state leagues all over Aust are slowly dying and they are sole providers of the many players who put bums on AFL seats to fill those AFL coffers that fund these comps like the AFLW....first year was free I get that.....time for the AFLW fans to pay for their entertainment like everyone else I guess.....not sure $2 isn't going to go far in filling those AFL coffers eh......
