Looks another 30-50 runs short again....good cameo from Carey.....Head and Smith fail again....gonna be a big ask with Richardson debuting, Tye bowing 6 more overs than he should with all his tricks....Root and Ali bowled well.....surely Lyon needs to play at some point.....surely Roy can't go big again.....pity Finch couldn't go on and score big...well bigger

This looks like a 45 over canter for the poms. The Aussie innings never really got going. 2 or 3 early English wickets are the only hope really. Why would you pick a guy like Cameron White who is a specialist batsmen and then bat him at 7?? Muddled thinking there methinks and for the 2nd time in 2 games Mitch Marsh couldnt rotate the strike enough and got out at the wrong time. Carey was the only batsman who looked like breaking the shackles. Credit to England though, they are a well drilled outfit and their spinners were outstanding today.

Didnt see the Aussie innings, but it appeared from looking at Cric info that their spinners did bowl a lot of dot balls. I just think the two teams are at very different stages of development at the moment. England are settled and Australia are experimenting with different combinations. Wouldnt be surprised if England win all 5 games to be honest. What a contrast Moeen Ali is from the test series!

There you go Starc has picked up Roy in the first over! A few more and we might be in it.

I have tried to point it out to people in the past, together with BH. The test series would have looked a wee bit different had they had, Hales, Finn, Wood and Stokes.

Getting back to the ODI's not only are the Aussies not taking on the spin and slow bowlers they are not using any themselves. Is it time to bring in perhaps Gary Lyon and the Big Show?

You’re dead right ark. People (me included) got too carried away with the test result.
As for this game, it’s gone. My God, how sickening is Kevin Pietersen as a commentator.

Be interesting to see if Australia do include Lyon.....not sure the thinking behind White....top run scorer in Aust domestic short form these past few years and he bats 7....Short is in the form of his life and not picked.....Aust need some clean strikers and hopefully Short and Lynn will be selected come the WC....Tye is a T20 guy nothing more.... Eng as folk say are a settled unit...Aust just need to pick the right players for this format...got to rethink if Smith is Aust number 3 tho, slot him in at 4 like Eng do with Root. Let Smith' guide the innings. Disappointed with Head so far.

Freeze: good analysis, I was going to ask you about Head. Why was Finch bowlling ahead of Marsh?

England easily won again. 350 might be a total that forces there batsman into errors.Humiliated at the last 50 over World Cup.They might start this one as tournament favourite.Japan challenged them to a game on there World Cup Exit in 2015.

The problem is that Lyon is not in the squad and I'm not sure if they are going to add anyone at this stage. The crazy decision was dropping Zampa which made the bowling very pedestrian and predictable apart from Starc and Richardson. Agree that Smith needs to drop to 4 and play a similar role to Root. Also can't understand why Smith didn't try Marsh earlier preferring Head and Finch who were easy meat for the England batsmen. The difference between the two teams is that England have got a very clear game plan and stick to it under pressure whereas Australia seem to be making it up as they go along. Its almost like the teams have swapped shirts since the tests.
Having said that Jhye Richardson made a very promising debut. He bowled with genuine pace and showed few nerves. He is destined to play test cricket one day.
