What a difference a change of format makes. England played really aggressive cricket yesterday and bullied the Australians into submission. Opposite of the test series really. I was very impressed with Jason Roy and the fact that he didn't throw it away after he got his ton like Finch did. Roy may be at the same stage Warner was at a few years back. Typecast as a one day player but could develop into a decent test performer if he can tighten his technique. Apart from Tye the Aussie bowling was very predictable. Too many 4 balls and not enough change ups of pace etc. I can see England winning this series fairly comfortably

Did anyone else notice the number Joe Root has on his shirt directly below his name? Quite amusing actually.

Yes that is very clever. Think I have been brainwashed by the moron in the McDonald stand who constantly yells out about 69's.

Eng seem to have a strong short format side...guys ready to tee off from the off in Roy, Bairstow and Buttler, other more traditional scorers in Root, Morgan and Hales....would of loved to have seen Lynn and Short play....two guys like Roy not afraid to go hard early......Lehmann needs to find some bowlers who have ODI smarts.... sometimes pure speed ain't the answer....more often than not with bats they have these days comes off much faster than what it does out of the bowlers hand... surprised Lyon ain't playing.....

Mikeh, Roy is a powerful clean hitter of the ball but he had a massive amount of luck on his side and on most other grounds one of those several miss hit chances would have gone to hand. The "G" is just so big, so much open space and he managed to land them between players. But a great result for the series as it will pull some aussie heads back in knowing they are now clearly the underdog. Also cut the short bowling back, this is a new batch pf batters who aren't intimidated by the short stuff.

I see Steve Smith wants to replicate Eng batting philosophy...4 guys given the license to go hard whilst Root and Morgan accumulate....for me then Warner Finch Short Smith Lynn MMarsh Stoinis Paine Starc Cummins Hazlewood....eek out overs from Short Marsh and Stonis or drop Finch open with Short or Lynn and bowl Lyon....

Freezin: Roy's performance was largely a fluke; as usual, they had trouble getting Root, but the rest of Australia's effort was okay.

Looks like Australia are debuting 2 players today, Carey as wicketkeeper in place of Paine and Jhye Richardson. Good luck to them both. Hopefully we can get rid of jason Roy a bit earlier in the game this time!
