Smith' bowling pies in the last over of the day gifting Cook a 100 pretty well completed Aust poor day yesterday. Well batted Cook, well bowled Broad....pity the series has already been decided....can see Cook and Root going big here......Aust total was at least 100 short....so can see them being 200 behind in their next innings....time for Bancroft to do what he does best...bat slowly and for ever...he needs a decent score TBH...besides that unbeaten 80 odd has done fark all

Yeah good to see their captain and two of their most experienced players come to the table when the series is over.

Yet another ordinary MCG pitch I wonder if all those prolific Vic social media "commentators" will criticise it like they seem to do the WACA and or any WA players?
No Mitch Starc (Jackson Bird just not Test menacing) makes us look average much like no Ben Stokes for England.
Hopefully this will bring us back down to earth as all this talk of 5-0 has been silly we are an average side as are England and if you take 1 star out of either side both are ordinary.
We can thank our lucky stars Steve Smith has pulled us out of the shite by making plenty of runs as this has wallpapered over the batting line up cracks!

2 recognised batsmen and the keeper all chopping onto the stumps from balls that were there to be put away tells me the ball wasn't coming onto the bat. They still shouldn't have lost their wickets to those deliveries. Flattering for the poms.
Get on your bike.

Agree BH but would add SMarsh to Smith as the only 2 reliable batters. Great comeback to test cricket by SMarsh, another solid innings this time around.

Poms have copped some shocker LBW decisions. Vince and Milan.Vince was unlucky the 3rd umpires decision was inconclusive. So it goes back to the original decision..But Milan had a clear inside edge.Missed by the umpire and Cook at the bowlers end.

Totally agree BH.....unless Bird takes a few wickets here or in Sydney he really needs to be dispensed with just too military in terms of his speed.......surely others like Sayers or Mackin deserve a go...pity the likes of Pattinson, Paris and Behrendorff are crocked......

Vince didnt refer it Gtr.If he had done so, the decision would have been overturned. Same for Malan.

Mike didn't see the Vince one.But Milan did ask Cook and he said no .So Cook and the umpire didn't see it or hear the inside edge.
