Wouldnt it be nice if someone like Forrest actually put his vast money behind our country's own indigenous sport and our 132 year old local WAFL competition rather than throw it away on this forlorn plum in the mouth old private school tie English invented raa raa!

BH I have already told you that they played rugby at Belmont Senior High School and Belmont is not an upper class suburb.

I would say the ARU will be wondering exactly why they were so stupid to make the decision they did given they will also have Twiggy's money against them as well.

That must have been quiet difficult seeing as he attended high school at Christchurch and Hale.

What has Christchurch or Hale School go to do with my post?

The last time rugger was played anywhere near Belmont was when Blue Spec was winning Perth Cups up the road at Ascot!

Perhaps you can explain the basis for that assertion.

Utter crap...who cares if rugby union was played at Belmont school in 1960,,,,no one gives at rats arse about rugby union out that way now. Soccer on the other hand would be booming, its an Asian/African immigrant area.

Lets have a look at the WARU now and what clubs dominate...

The Club with the most wins is. NEDLANDS 13 premierships
Then COTTESLOE
and the third ..surprise surprise... WESTERN SUBURBS....( as if there isn't enough clubs there already )

Yes mind boggling isn't it , 3 clubs all crammed into a tiny well heeled portion of Perth utterly dominate the sport.

As for McGowan moaning about the money wasted on this farce.

Well the question should be why were tax payers subsidising this crap and why did it fall to tax payers to bank roll them for 1 Million dollars in their final year to keep them afloat - no other sponsor came forward.

the Govt spent 95 mill on Perth Oval, mainly at the behst of the Farce, Glory were quite happily doing their own thing out there, but farce insisited on a square stadium as Subi was not good enough, anyway we ended up with a upgraded Perth oval , that NOT JUST Farce use but also Glory and Music Concerts...so any loss there is very much mitigated.

From what the ABC reported last night , there is not a single written document signed that guaranteed the Farce would stay in WA between ARU and WA Gov.

McGowan is grand standing and bugger all will amount from it.

As BH mentioned it really is tragic that so much tax payer money has been pissed against the wall on this rather than WAFL - something that helps Aboriginal Youth and is WA COMMUNITY based, imagine of that ! million road safety sponsorship deal had been spread among WAFL clubs or 95 Mill spent on WAFL Venues,,,our clubs cant be packed up and moved - they are here for good unlike ARU franchises.

Bloody disgrace.

I support the state Govt going after the ARU and suing for compensation, but there's no guarantee that they have a rock solid case and sneakers has admitted that they are yet to receive that legal advice. It would have been prudent for him to wait and see what that advice is before making his hairy chested threats. If the case looks in anyway dodgy and they put the cue back in the rack he will look very silly. The WA taxpayer would not be happy if our money was thrown away on legal costs for a dodgy case.
