Freeze perhaps they were given certain guarantees at the time of establishing the Force which is why they are considering legal action. You need to read about the deal that the Vic government did with the ARU to ensure their cellar dweller rugby team could stay in the comp, basically bought there way back in with massive financial incentives.

Mate I would be almost certain there were no such guarantees how could there possibly be when the ARU own the Farce and have a final say on their future ?
As you say the Rebels are owned by VRU and a massive deal was done for other games, if big ears is happy to blow tax payers money on that loss making crap then his states people are the suckers, One thing I am glad about re McGowan is he has said not a single extra cent will be spent by tax payers on the Farce, that should include wasting money on dead end legal challenges, Hammond was on the news last night saying they would have no hope getting back what was spent and even if they won it would be significantly less than that.

Looks like the Western Force now has the Federal government behind them according to page 61 of The West. I can't find it online. Federal Sports Minister Greg Hunt has backed calls for the ARU to reinstate the WF and WA senator Linda Reynolds has called for a senate enquiry.

Not too sure why the Force want to come back in TBH....being the best club in Aust means fark all....not one Oz team won one single game v the NZ teams....even the shite ones like the Blues....rugby union is dead in Aust.....folk dont give a shit....well none of the sensible folk do anyway...LOL......I just hope the ABs keep hammering the Wallabies....definitely one way of culling the game of rugby union quicker.....even hope GWS win the flag to promote the status of Aussie Rules in the rugby haven of NSW....League will always survive because the Kangaroos are the best in the world more often than not....

Bazza I reckon Wesleys year 1 rugby team would of beaten Belmont's year 12 team....no wonder why Perth have struggled with their zones for quality youngsters...they are all playing rugby in Belmont!

freezin: correct -- don't forget Mcgowan is not from here; also, the whole thing demonstrates again the power of the elites in the Western Suburbs. The first place I ever saw rugby posts was at the James Oval. Where else?

There are only 10,000 Boers in this state not enough to sustain the sport; in England the game is played by a few Tories and the Liberal Democrats, the working class support the soccer and rugby league.

The ARU has made the right decision, finally acceptting that Union is not a national sport.

It is actually hilarious that some raa raa types think the sport has any sort of relevance in this country.
It is a niche elitist game for ES private school boys (much like hockey, sailing, polo etc) and like Bazza has pointed out only played by a few well heeled clubs pretty much all based in the golden triangle of Perth.
Amazing turnout from said GT at Mt Claremont (nice and close to home for them) on Sunday pity most of them obviously never bothered to show up to a Farce game judging by their crowds!

BH you really have no idea if you think your claim that hockey is a niche game for ES private school boys is anywhere near factually correct.
