However I do miss the days of one on one contests and abhor the ugly look of flooding where all 36 players can be within the 50 at either end.
I rue the loss of the power forward and am disgusted that the skill of kicking goals from set shots has almost been entirely lost with most players preferring to kick on the run. How is this possible with all the specialist coaches and training at clubs these days? Amateur footballers are better kicks for goal!!

Kick a goal in modern day footy Major and you run straight for the bench...miss and you get to stay on the park...I say ban the inter change and they'll all start kicking straight

What is a damning indictment on the interchange is when a player is more concerned with running off the ground than he is in actually tackling a player or attempting to intercept the footy. One wonders exactly what the rationale is when it is necessary to interchange players 3 minutes into the game.

The decline started when they introduced 4 interchange players then Malthouse abused it by making well over 100 interchanges per game which caused the league to place a cap on the amount. Unfortunately this still has not made much difference.
It funny thinking about the old days with 2 reserves who really only came on if someone was injured.
The flood is the worst thing that has happened to the game and it all started with Pagans paddock to allow Carey one out duels with his opponent which he mostly won and for him to run onto the ball in the open forward line.

Dont forget that Eade was responsible for the flooding tactics which has now become the press all clubs use and that all REAL football supporters despise.....good riddance to him I say!

BH: correct about Eade. And why was it done? All because his side was no good. I mean what is wrong with losing if you are not the best team? People had managed to do it for hundred years

That's right Beas it was Eade and Wallace I think who started the flood. Whoever started the press should be lined up and shot.
