Grassy: Here is a thread for you on the great game. I will certainlly make use of it myself down the track. My club is looking for a manager. Do you think Australia will beat the Saudis?

A 3rd place play off would be such fun. In such a scenario who would be the opponent? 5th placed South American side. Possibly old sparing partner Uruguay?

The strange thing is we joined the Asian Confereration in an attempt to avoid having to play a South American side. I guess that should be our fate if we are not good enough to finish in the top two of our group.

Grassy: I support Leeds United -- I don't expect to get back into the premier league in the near future. Whom do you support?

mikeh: I see Wenger got re-appointted at Arsenal. They might be worth a little wager for the Premier League next year given that they will not have any matches to play in Europe. What do you think?

Well Arsenal will play in Europe next season. Fans can start to put plans in place for their European travels next season as the Gunners will play in Europe’s second-tier club competition. Rumblings are Arsenal will lose Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil for next season. I know your question was addressed to Mikeh so excuse my rudeness but I will throw my 2 pence worth in and say I think Arsenal have a cinders chance in snow of winning the League next year.

Ti Em -- thanks for the reply, feel free to respond any time. I agree that if they lose the Turkish fellow and Sanchez, the Gunners will have little chance in the League. In regards, the Euro competition Arsenal will take part in, I can see Wenger playing a second XI if Arsenal are high up in the League next year.

Wengers reappointment did not surprise me ArkRoyal. He is basically an institution there now and will leave at a time of his choosing. Following Arsenal over the past few years has been like watching a rerun of an old TV show. A promising start in both the EPL and Champions league, then a dip around Christmas. A flogging by either Bayern Munich or Barcelona in the CL round of 16, then a complete collapse in February. A dramatic recovery towards the end of the season which sometimes culminates in a FA cup to enhance the feel good factor and get members to re sign. Sorry it does sound it a bit cynical but I think this is what has been happening.
I hope Sanchez and Ozil stay, but if they are sold, I hope they go to a European league and not to an EPL rival. I sometimes get the impression that many Arsenal players are not totally focussed on the team ethic rather more increasing their individual status. I think any money spent over the transfer period needs to be spent on players who demonstrate this commitment to team rather than just judging on pure talent.

Bazza: Did Celtic go through the season undfeatted?
Mikeh: Thanks -- I hope that they keep Sanchez to his contract, after all, the stadium is paid off and the club does not need the money.

Arsenal will have to let Sanchez go because in a year's time he can walk and they won't get a penny. His stock is high at the moment so they will sell. Arsenal run a business. He wants out so let him go. Why keep a player who does not want to be there?
