In this weekend when State footy is on everyones minds, I thought I would have a go at putting together a SOO team for an imaginary carnival. I went through all the AFL team lists and there are 106 players of WA origin. From there I selected a 22 man squad of players who would be available for a game this weekend. This criterion ruled out guys like Natanui, Sandilands, Hogan, Cognilio and Rory Lobb who are all injured. See what you think of this team

BACKS Neville Jetta (Melbourne) Alex Rance (Richmond) Marley Williams (NM)

HB Elliot Yeo (WCE) Jeremy McGovern (WCE) Jason Johannisen (WB)

CENTRE Mitch Duncan (Geelong) Brad Hill (Frem) Daniel Rich (Brisbane)

HF Cale Hooker (Essendon) Josh Kennedy (WCE) Daniel Wells (Coll)

FF Michael Walters(Frem) Lance Franklin (Syd) Jeff Garlett (Melb)

FOLL Paddy Ryder (PA) Nat Fyfe (Frem) Jamie Cripps (Carl)

I/C Matt Leuenberger (Ess) Sam Menegola(Geel)Stephen Hill (Freo) Alex Fasolo (Coll)

Others who could be considered: Ben Stratton (Haw), Andrew Swallow (NM) David Swallow(GCS),Brandon Matera (GCS), Sam Powell- Pepper (PA), Matt Priddis (WCE), Sam Petroski-Seton (Carl), Mark Lecras (WCE), Charlie Cameron (Adelaide), Harry Taylor (Geelong), Mitch McGovern (Adelaide)

Would be interested in others thoughts especially if you think some of the ones I left out would be better than others in the team

Paddy Cripps rather than his cousin Jamie, mikeh.....I would have Cameron in over Fasolo....Kennedy to FF...Buddy to FF....but all in all that is one good team....reckon they may struggle against that WA side that won today tho.....

freezin --- they certainlly would not have the heart of the WAFL team, that is for sure. Just goes to show, again too, what a load of rubbish it is for the Eagles to go on about travel.

No Tom Mitchell? I would push Hill to the wing and get rid of Rich and have him in the guts. I'd also think about playing Lobb as a ruck/forward.

Sorry, just read that you didn't consider Lobb. I'd play Wilson instead of Marley. Names keep popping up. It's a fairly strong side.

Not sure how the likes of WA boys Eddie Betts, Tom Mitchell, Nathan Wilson were missed from the 22 let alone the squad?

shark58: I see your point. But I would have thought the Eagles would have masterred it by now? The truth is, it is not the travel, it is down to whether they have had a good side or not. I remember hearring an interview with Doug Green whom travelled over each week to play for South Melbourne. He said it never botherred one bit.
